Question about Individual Family Tree Legends Deluxe 5 Full Version for PC

Open Question

Several years ago, I vreated a shareable CD for my file using Family Tree Legends. I can no longer create the file for sharing using the option for "share CD/DVD" in Family Tree Legends. That may be because my file is now too large to be contained on a CD... but why offer to create a DVD if the size limits remain the same ? Is ther a way to circumvent this problem? Like creating a DVD-ready file to burn later ? J-P.

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

SOURCE: Cannot get it onto DVD

Yes, use DVD+R. Make sure that you choose the correct options: After clicking on "Produce" and then "Burn to disc", take a look at the window that appears. One of the choices: you can either burn to hard drive or to the writer drive. Chose your writer drive and continue. Also, SlideShow Expressions can develop problems when a project is too big or when the photos are too large. What typically happens, is that the burning process stops at step 5 (the actual burning) and does'nt want to continue. If this is the case, experiment with photo size. I used Microsoft Office Picture Manager to resize photos. Resizing doesn't necessarily reduce the quality of the photos. There is really no visual difference between my original photos and those that feature in my slideshows. In my case I had to resize to under 500 KB, but then, my project was extremely large: 466 photos; maybe you don't have to go so low. Experiment with sizes. Don't give up; it's a really great product.

SOURCE: I have created a Slide

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. Basically the answer to the 3 questions is YES

1. Copy the Music Folder, Photo Folder to a 4 bg Memory Stick - Yes you can!

2. Then copy the final version of my slide show to the 4 gb memory stick. - Yes you can!

3. Then take the memory stick to someone who has a burner. Have them load the Slide Show Expression software on their PC, then plug in the memory stick, pull up the final version of my show, then burn it to a CD. I created the show in a DVD format. - Yes, Make sure that you also have the serial of the software because it might be ask when you install it on a different computer.

After you burn the presentation then try to watch it to a DVD player or on the computer. Take note that sometimes you need to have a Codec on a computer to watch a DVD content so i'll also include here a link for the Codec pack for you to test the presentation on the computer.

Klite Mega Codec Pack

If you have questions please let me know. Good luck with your presentation.

Thanks for using Fixya

Register it again. Even trough you already did this, porting the software from its program files folder does not always works fine. Windows' register has these registration saved, and your new PC doesn't.

Try saving a copy of your family tree as a .GED file. for example "familytree.ged" onto a USB drive or disk, then put said disk in your MAC, open family tree maker and try and import your tree.

Files using the .ged extension seem to be the most portable.

I checked the Cosmi website and could find no newer versions.

I would suggest you go with this newer version of Family Tree Maker.

http://www.familytreemaker.com/About/Default.aspx

It is quite extensive. Lots of features. Also, it is associated with ancestry.com. On-line tutorials are provided. Reasonably priced too.

Thanks for using Fixya.

DLL missing Error 126

If it supports repair..Hope it does.
Go to control panel and get the add/remove programs.
Go trough the installed programs and locate the place where this is listed.
The click on it and select repair
You have to insert the CD before u begin
That will solve your problem (if the repair button is not there, insert the CD and run the setup and check whether their is any option to repair. - Instead of this you can do a windows system restore also or u can have an undelte utility to find the deleted .dll files.)

Thanks

If this solves your problem, please rate the answer.
Good luck

DLL MUST BE MISSING OR CORRUPT

Here's another fixya article on an earlier version of the program, but the advice is sound:

Can't move my Family tree to my new computer.

I hope you didn;t throw out your old computer, as it it is almost impossible to use some xp and vista op software on other computers. Put your file on a flashdrive and see if you can import it.
