Question about HP EliteBook 6930p Notebook PC

Open Question

My HP Elitebook 6930p is not working. When I start it, it goes straight to a black screen and says: Non-System Disk or disk erro replace and strike any key when ready What does that mean?

SOURCE: Non System Disk or Disk error Replace and strike any key when ready

while switching on your system press F10 and the go to the Advanced setup. There you select and press Enter key on change boot order and then change the order by using Page up or page down key. Alternatively you may use Esc key while showing the compaq logo on boot, you will be able to change the Boot Order.

Turn it all the off. Then pull the hard drive out and put it back in again. Now, put your system disk (Win XP?) into the drive and turn the laptop on. It should do something else now. I have had this happen on several laptops I have rebuilt and it takes patience to get them started sometimes.... I have managed to load XP onto all of them eventually!

Hope this helps

SOURCE: non- system disk or disk error

This means it cannot read the HDD in the machine. Have you left a disk in the CD/DVD slot or a usb drive in one of the usb ports?

You may have to insert your operating system disk in the CD/DVD drive and do a repair installation.

Hp elitebook 6930p keyboard not working properly, I used to get hard disk warining message which I used to bypass by F1, but now F1 also stopped working, any workaround?

Hard drive has probably failed completely now. Fit a new hard drive, buy a windows OS disc, reinstall all of your programmes, restore your backed up data files and set up your new disc.

Slow down boot screen

Your BIOS or boot up is corrupted. Restore to factory settings with your restore disc, if you do not have one check to see if one is available for you to re-install or purchase or get given to you. Often when you call tech support they will send you one for free. Although not often are they free, or you can use a Windows Operating System disk as well. To redo your laptop. John

Hi it may be worth pressing the FN+F5 keys just to make sure that it is not in standby

or you could try this

power up and straightaway tap the F8 key a few times
this may take you into the repair option
then choose the last known good configuration
windows will then restart and try to put it back to when it was last working ok

hope this helps you

many thanks

I get a 1720 Smart Hard drive detects imminent failure (Failing Attribute: B8) error on my HP EliteBook 6930p which has a Seagate hard rive

It means that the Seagate hard drive is near death. Backup all your data immediately, create a recovery cd starting from the recovery partition situated on your disk (if you haven't done this before or you weren't provided one when you bought it), replace the hard drive and reinstall.

Hi, My Hp Elitebook 6930p display sometimes just goes progressively blank...the image freezes and then it goes from white to a lot of different colors (every pixel different color) and then just black...

easy, plug in any external display (vga first)
work now.?
also my elite book has a removable video card
also run free temp monitor software, as CPU core heat and GPU
if GPU overheats, fix that first.

mine has the 15p vga rear
and a video port left that i connect to my HDMI adaptor to TV
so i can watch screen on huge 60" tv if want.

why not use the external displays?
the hot key on top row turns this on..
the HP.com manual is free to read 24/7

page 16 in your manual shows
"VGA (Dsub 15-pin) supporting 1600 ×
1200 external resolution at 75-GHz (hot
plug/unplug with auto-detect)"

mines set to auto detect. per same book.

my 8540w has "DISPLAY" port left side and works with HDMI
so mines more ELITE, nana nana.....LOL
