Question about Husqvarna Designer I

1 Answer

I owe a Topaz 30, lesser than 1 year old. Today I've got problems with the bobin winding. I set it on its place as usually and when I tried to start it and push the ok button, there was a click and than ... nothing happens. It worked perfectly before. What can I do?

No, I've tried. The fot control activates only the sewing. The same for the star/stop button.

Thanks anyway, I've asked here because the shop were I bought the machine closed definitively and the woman who owned it does not have the slightliest clue about the computerized part of the machine and, worst of all, she was the only dealer from the country I live.

Maybe there will be someone who experienced the same, if not, I have to send it to Denmark, for reparations. Thank you again .

I don't have a Topaz, but a Designer 1. I think the bobbin winding setup is similar on these machines. One time I had accidentally pushed too hard on the bobbin winder spindle when I put the empty bobbin on, and the mechanism had gone back inside the machine a little and would not work. I was able to pull it back into place myself without needing to go to the repair shop. Look carefully at your bobbin winder and see if it is in the right place - this might just be your problem and is easily fixed. I am very careful now not to push too hard when I put on the empty bobbin. Also make sure you have pushed the bobbin completly towards the bobbin stop. Does the bobbin winding pop-up appear on your screen?

The new Topaz has not the same mechanism. The bobin winder spindle is actualy fix and the one that moves is the stopper. When you push the stopper towards the bobin, then the winding mechanism is activated. It's somehow the opposite (I know because I've got a Designer 1 as a loaner). The pop-up appears. At Topaz there is an "OK" botton, you have to push it in order to start winding (at Designer 1 is that stop/start button). When I push it, it doesn't work.

Okay. It does sound like there is a problem that needs a visit to the repair shop to get it fixed. Can you wind a bobbin by using the foot control to provide "power" instead of the push button controls?

I can't seem to wind a bobbin. I've done everything in the manual but it just seizes up- doesn't spin.

you placed the bobin upside down

one side is flat the other is keyed

so place the keyed side down
usual fault with winders

bobins are easy... read again the manual slowly

Winding a bobin

That's how that machine works. You don't loosen the hand wheel or anything, Simply put the bobbin on the winder and go.

Bobins

To "wind" a bobbin you can:
1 - Look in your book
2 - Google : how to thread a bobbin on a kenmore "12 stitch"
3 - Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fe11QQubfqw
4 - Ask a friend

To "make a bobin"
1 - Get some 0.5mm stainless steel
2 - Cut two 19mm circles out of the 0.5mm steel
3 - Drill a 6mm hole in the center of each circle
4 - Solder (silver solder work the best) the 2 circles together with a 6mm round by 9mm tall cylinder in between the two 19mm circular pieces.

I owen a Creative Touch Fashion Machine Model 1030. I tried to fill the bobbin and the thread is filling under the bobbin instead of inside the bobbin. Had it fix in late 2009 and it came back with this...

I've had that problem before, I wrap several loops on the bobbin it's self & as I start to wind I make sure the thread from the spool is pulled tight from the spool to the bobbin,,& that usually takes care of the problem

The top thread is looping every 30 or 40 stitches on my Juki DDL 8700. I put in a fresh needle, cleaned thoroughly, fresh throat plate and re-threaded. Any ideas? Thank you!

I took out the bobin case and now when I put it back in it wont stay. The thread bunches up or the bobin case comes out of place. Any idea on how to get it to stay put?

The manual usually shows a pretty good diagram of how it should be, it snaps in place. Call singer at 1-800-4singer. Or go online at singerco.com and download a manual for free,

Bobin winder won't wind

Check your manual to be sure your are setting up as you should.

If the winder still does not work, you can take it to a dealer for repair and pay out around $80, or purchase the SideWinder bobbin winder for less than $30. I have seen them for less than $20 at Hancock Fabric.

I have one that I use from time to time and it does a very good job. I really did not need it....just can't pass up a new notion.

Machine will not sew correctly

The Topaz 30 is a relatively new machine and should still be under Viking's warranty if you bought it new from an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer. Suggest you take it back to an authorized dealer--preferably the one where you bought it. The machines have a 5 and 20 year warranty for parts, etc. Most dealers will give you a 6 months to 1 year warranty if you bought it from them. There have been a couple of software updates released for this model. You can find more information at the husqvarna viking website. By clicking on the "Dealer's" link you can find the nearest authorized dealer. http://www.husqvarnaviking.com

Thread keeps breaking while sewing

If you have a manual look for checking the tension. Or it may be it is threaded wrong.

Needle Sticks - Huskystar E10

When it feels like the needle is jammed, open the bobbin cover and release the two black retaining levers, one on either side of the bobbin case. The hook cover that is visible will be released. If the machine turns by hand smoothly, you may have a piece of the broken needle, or just a piece of thread stuck behind the hook or hook cover causing the bind. This problem will sometime make you swear that the needle is stuck in something because it will usually bind while the needle is down in the fabric.
