If you are using windows 7, a lot of older scanners are not recognised, the solution to this is a program called VueScan available from loads of places, just use google to find it. It will work with most scanners and will have a driver that saves you buying a new scanner, I have used it with 10 year old scanners and not had a problem with win 7 32 or 64bit os
The error message could be Twain Driver error or ScandAll pro Application error. Please go through the followings:
SCANDALL-PRO APPLICATION ERROR:
Error Code: [SA01020E] No scanner is found. There is a possibility that no scanner is connected, the connected scanner is not turned on, or the scanner is currently used by some other application.
Status: [Scan] or [Select Scanner] is specified, but no connected scanner is found. Or, the scanner is currently used by some other application.
Action: Make sure that the scanner is connected and is turned on. If the scanner is currently used by some other application, use the scanner after the application ends. Make sure that the driver selected on the [Scan] tab of [Preferences] in the [Tool] menu is installed correctly.

you dont have other choice, how about to buy an multi plug-in adaptor from 3V up to 23V can manage the voltage of your scanner, but if not this 15volts can support your scanner..
you might have two program trying to use the scanner at the same time & the scanner is confused.Find out what programs you are using.Hint...even printer programs may use scanner drivers. 2nd.you MUST use the EXACT scanner driver for your scanner. Windows will see the scanner "locked out"
Do you have any scanner software installed to use your scanner with? In most cases a scanner comes with CD that installs a software package that will allow immediate use of the scanner after installation. Once that package is installed, you place picture in one of the corners of the scanner underneath the lid of course and press either the manual scan button that is on some scanners or the button on the software package that you installed into the computer when first configuring the scanner during installation. I assume you have acquired the scanner as a twain source else little will happen.
