Question about Symantec Procomm Plus 4.8 for PC

Open Question

We have been using Procom Plus for years at our company and have developed an extensive "Scripts" file. I have transfered the software and scripts file to at least 4 laptops over the years and have never had any problems. On my newest laptop however, the PC Plus software is absolutely oblivious to the scripts file. I have installed the software and scripts file in exactly the same way as before, but now none of the scripts, macros, etc. show up. Any ideas?

.rar files are compressed files a bit like zip files, you have to extract the files first, you can use winrar or 7zip to do this (7zip is a free program)

SOURCE: lost my norton 2010 disc

You should be able to call Norton and they should be able to assit you. If they do not I would suggest using the free microsoft antivirus and spyware solution. Do a google search for Microsoft Security essentials and that should find you the link. If you need to do an online scan you can go to http://safety.live.com which will re-route you to a onecare site that has an online scanner. You will need to install the activex components which will either appear above the webpage below the Internet Explorer address bar or will pop up a box to install. Microsoft will remove this at a future date so don't be suprised if the online scan dissapears. If you do the full scan it will defrag the machine and do a registry repair which can fix a lot of issues.

Extract RSD files

Files that contain the .rsd file extension are normally associated with the RealSQLDatabase. The RSD file format that associated with this file type is a database file format that is used by the REALbasic software application.

The REALbasic software program is an application that is used to develop other software applications that use the BASIC programming language. These RSD files store the database information in a structured format. The information contained in the database can then be accessed using the various SQL commands.

The .rsd file extension is also used with Roland software program. These RSD files store sound files that are used by the application.

Or in simple terms you need the right software to use a RSD file.

What is PCR ?

PCR - technical definition In asynchronous transfer mode (ATM), a traffic parameter defined as the maximum number of cells per second, in a burst, that the network agrees to accept and transfer for a given user network interface (UNI). Excess cells may be discarded by the ingress switch, or marked as eligible for discard. For constant bit rate (CBR) service, the PCR is the guaranteed CBR for the virtual circuit. Enforcement of the PCR enables the network to allocate sufficient resources to ensure that the quality of service (QoS) parameters are met. See also ATM, CBR, cell, QoS, traffic parameter, UNI, and virtual circuit. PCR definition PCR abbreviations & acronyms PCR Culture PCR legal definition PCR medical definition b> or The File Extension .PCR b> All files on a computer and the web require a file extension. Sometimes, these extensions can apply to two or more kinds of files that are completely independent of each other.

PCR When there are multiple files that use the same extension, it's typical for only two files to share the extension. It is used for even more files with the .PCR extension. Uses The .PCR extension represents three different file types: in Creatacard software, as a benchmark file and as an image file. Creatacard Creatacard is a program that produces greeting cards and other cards that can be mailed. According to filext.com, the .PCR extension applies to postcard files. Benchmark Filext.com also describes the second use as a benchmark file. A benchmark file tags and encodes certain properties of software. It can also be defined as XML (rules for encoding a document). Benchmark files are associated with the software attached to USB drives and within Linux operating systems. images According to dotwhat.net, the third and final use of the .PCR extension is for image files, similar to the more commonly used .JPG and .GIF formats. Specifically, .PCR is used within Windows and Linux in FullProf Suite, a crystallography (the arrangement of atoms in solids) visualizer, according to the FullProf Suite homepage.

Toshina External Hard Drive backup files in

Which program did you create the backup with? You'll need to install a copy of that software on your new computer. Then you will let the software find the backup and restore it. This will only work if you used a file backup. Many backup programs do not restore to systems with different hardware (different CPU, hard drive, OS, etc.).

However, I don't know which software uses *. PFT, pfi or pfp extensions. PBF is the format for one of the older Paragon Backup software versions. Acronis uses *.TIB . For a list of many of the software extensions used for backups, see https://www.file-extensions.org/filetype/extension/name/backup-files .

Canvio drives used to include NTI BackupNow EZ software. However, I believe that NTI backups use BJF or NTI extensions. The installer for that is here: http://support.toshiba.com/sscontent?contentId=3044104 . To check for other software for your external drive, try looking up your drive at http://support.toshiba.com/support/home . The available drivers and software should be listed. Alternatively, check if the backup software installer is still on the external drive.

I hope this helps.

I was directed to this site, how do i download a "3rd party plug in" to burn dvds

A "3rd Party Plug In" would be a plugin created not by the company that developed the software you are trying to use, but another company that developed it to be used with that software. It depends on what type of plugin that you need to do what you are trying to do with the software. Try going to the software manufacturer's website and looking for any additional information there.

N64 Console has opening on bottom labeled EXT. What is it for?

The Extension Port is what Nintendo names the ports placed on their consoles allowing for connectivity to either other systems, or peripherals that were released after the fact.
EXT named ports can be found on many Nintendo consoles, such as the Game Boy, the Super Nintendo, the Virtual Boy, the Nintendo 64, and even the GameCube.

The EXTension port on the Nintendo 64 game console, is found on its bottom side. It reads "EXT." and stands for extension. It is a cartridge drive but with a slightly different interface than the one above on the main deck. It has the same number of pins as the main cartridge slot and the same data transfer speed. The special Pokémon Nintendo 64 lacked this extension port, probably because at that point Nintendo knew there was no use for it. While the most popular of uses was the 64DD, other companies found uses for the Extension port, primarily for piracy, though the hardware was originally intended for, and used by some companies, as an inexpensive N64 development device, or even just to quickly develop a product demo.
When not in use, it is covered by a plastic cap, which one has to remove before installing the 64DD under it.

[edit] 64DD Main article: Nintendo 64DD The 64DD is a unit that was used for expanding games for the N64 unit.

[edit] Doctor V64 Main article: Doctor V64 The Doctor V64 is a unit that attaches to the bottom of the N64, that loads Nintendo 64 ROMs via an attached CD-ROM drive.

[edit] CD64 Main article: CD64 (Nintendo) The CD64 also attaches to the bottom of the N64 and runs ROM files via a CD-ROM. It had the ability to manage games a save files via PC connectivity (parallel port). The CD64 also had the added feature of having a GameShark-like program that could be used to cheat.

Thanks for Using FixYa - A Fixya Rating is appreciated!!

The WEB site was recently created and then removed by
some **** in Germany.

You need to be extremely careful when downloading movies,
because most movie formats contain facilities for WEB links
and active Java scripts, which can contain dangerous malware,
or links to a daisy chain of evil websites that will in turn install
malware on you computer, if you are not EXTREMELLY careful.

Media files, such as AVI, MPG and WMV can also contain
code which will crash or even damage windows explorer as
soon as you click on the movie file, even without launching
the movie.

This is because Windows Explorer uses two DLL files:
shmedia.DLL and shimgvw.DLL which scan every media file
you touch in order to create preview thumbnails.

A carefully crafted media file will cause buffer overflow and
crash Windows Explorer.

These files are even extremely difficult to remove,
because windows will crash every time you touch them.

Don't use Internet explorer (any version) and use Firefox
instead. Disable scripts, except for trusted websites.

Download and Install Firefox addons to block scripts,
such as "No script" by Giorgio Maone.

This utility will prompt you to accept or reject scripts
when you are browsing.

Avoid *.wmv media files, they almost alway contain WEB
links as bait.

Be careful where AVI and MPG files come from.

Be suspicious of unreasonably small files, that come from
large numbers of peer to peer sources and download very
quickly. SCAM companies have the fastest servers on
peer to peer networks.

Scan EVERY downloaded file for malware.

Hopefully this will make you safer.
