If the pictures are in the camera's internal memory instead of in the memory card, you need to remove the card from the camera before trying to transfer via the USB lead. When the card is in the camera, the computer can only see the contents of the card.

Nikon Coolpix S3000 download from machine to pc

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.

When I transfer photos to computer I get a message saying some photos were nor transferred but have not been deleted. How can I recover those photos

Try this
1. Do not save any new file to memory card.
2. Connect your card to computer. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in My Computer.
3. Download recovery software, recommended one is this photo recovery (simply because i was using it and it worked)
http://www.001-software.com/picture-recovery/
4. Install and open the photo recovery program, select your memory drive, and click 'Start' button to start scanning process which will find your deleted photos.

Hi if you have a memory card reader just take the card out of the camera and put the card in the memory card reader your computer will then open them up with no problems, if it dont open up the files on its own you just press the start button then click on my computer then click on the memory card that will then open all the files up on the memory card and it will then let you transfer them to where ever you like.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

please rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

How do I transfer pictures from internal memory to memory card on my nikon s3000?

I do not think the internal transfer is possible.
The best way to get the images off the internal memory is to download them to your computer via the cable. If you still want the images on your memory card, then transfer them back.
