Question about Whirlpool Water Heaters

Pilot lite went out and after many attmepts it ignited. Had the thermalcoupe replace just in case that was it. Stayed lit for 2 days now it is out again and will not stay lit. Bloggers are suggesting a factory defect in the gas valve. What do you think? Model #FGIF4034T3NOV Serial# 0325128519

Hi. Before you go to the expense of a new gas valve , a correctly adjusted pilot flame is steady and blue, and stands between 1/4 and 1/2 inch high. If the flame goes out repeatedly, it may be getting too little air; if it's yellow at the tip, it's getting too much air. To correct either condition, turn the pilot adjustment screw slightly, as directed by the manufacturer.

there is a serious problem in the gas control system that needs urgent professional assistance to fix

Reliance 606 Hot water Heating element (Pilot light) won't stay lit

Gas water heaters don't have elements, so I am confused about what type water heater you have..
Look on the side of tank for the label.
Find the brand, and type. Does it show BTUs? Or does it show wattage?
Then re-post question with this information, for best possible answer.
Also post question on Tank forum.

If pilot flame is weak, the burner parts and pilot tube may need to be cleaned.
Other causes can be bad venting, negative air pressure, low gas pressure, air in gas line, bad gas control valve thermostat, damaged burner parts from exposure to chemicals, etc.

The pilot went off and will not lite

There is a special procedure for lighting pilots. It should be clearly labeled on the unit. If you are following this and it will not stay lit, then you need to call a certified repair tech.

Pilot light on water heater wont stay lit

The thermocouple has failed. It is the temp probe that goes from the pilot lite burner area to the control valve. Go to your local plumbng repair shop and buy one. Most appliance parts stores have them also. Take the old one with you and they will hook you up with an exact replacement. They are not that hard to change. Usually a nut or 2 screws in the temp bulb area at the burner end and a nut that threads into the control valve.
Make sure before you install the new one that the area where it mates to the gas valve is clean. Should be about a 20 min job including clean up with replacement parts in hand.

Bosch Aquastar tankless water heater model 1600P Pilot is lit but main burner will not lite. replace water valve that controls ignition.

There should be a thermocoupler, it is that bulb that sits in the pilot flame. If it is not functioning properly the main gas valve will not open.. Hmmm, Is the main valve in the on position?
