Look at the block of gold-coloured pins between the "power" and the "data" connectors on one end of the disk-drive.

Look VERY closely for engraving just above that block of pins.
Look for 'MA(ster)' and 'SL(ave)' and 'C(able)S(elect)'.

Remove any jumpers, and then put a jumper at the 'MA' pair of pins.

What is the connection plug from Fujitsu mht2080ah to computer?

You can install the hard drive into an USB hard drive adapter case.
Then you can connect it to the USB port on your computer. The computer will see this as an external storage device, then you can copy the files off this hard disk to your computer.
By inserting the hard drive into an USB hard drive adapter you can deleted unwanted files off the hard drive and use it for backups and data transfer from one computer to another computer.

My old hard drive stoped working so I got a preowned one and now it is telling me it can't read the hard drive what do I do

The preowned hard drive maybe faulty.
To test this hard drive, connect this hard drive to an USB hard drive adapter then plug the USB hard drive adapter into the USB port of a working computer. If this computer can see the USB adapter and hard drive as an external storage device and you can view the folders and files on this hard drive the the hard drive is working, if not the the hard drive is faulty and you need a new hard drive.

I pulled the seagate 2.5"

Hello,

When you use external adapters to plug drives into USB ports the drive needs to be set for mast not slave. The internal drive is one one channel and external drive is on a different channel so neither drive is a slave, both are masters with not slave drive present. Try removing the jumper you installed and try the drive, it should be seen because all windows XP or later do not need drivers for USB drives.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

My computer's hard disk seagate 40 Gb is damaged but it will show in bios set up . how can i recover my data back plz tell me.

The best way to recover your data if you cannot boot up your computer. Remove the hard disk and attach it to an USB hard drive adapter. Plug this adapter into a working computer's USB port and this computer should see this as an external storage device. You can then open the folders and files to backup/copy, provided the hard drive is not faulty.

You maybe able to retrieve data from this hard drive by connecting it to an USB hard drive adapter. Then plug this adapter into a working computer's USB port. If the hard drive is OK then this computer will see the adapter as an external hard drive and you can open the folders and files and copy them to the computer's hard drive or to a USB flash drive.

The Coolmax adapter is an USB hard drive adapter that can connect various types hard drives to your computer. This is used for testing and and transferring data to and from hard drives connected to the computer via the computer's USB port.

This Coolmax USB hard disk adapter can connect a 2.5-, 3.5- and 5.25-inch IDE or SATA hard disk to a PC. The black adapter box connects the hard disk, while the secondary power plug/adapter powers the drive. In the case of smaller notebook or SATA disks, the power cable is plugged directly into the adapter (as opposed to straight into the IDE hard disk).
The red USB cable, meanwhile, can be used to power hard disks directly from the host PC's bus via another USB port.

Connect the hard drive to the adapter as detailed above, power up your computer and plug the Coolmax USB cable into the conputer's USB port. The computer will detect and see this as an external drive, most likely as a E drive (the next drive letter that is available). Click on this drive and open to open the folder/s where your data is stored then select the folder/s and/or data and copy them, then open the hard drive on the computer and paste the folder/s and/or files onto the new hard drive.

Maxtor HD has 8 pins with shunt on 5 & 6 and the new HD I bought which is compatible just larger has 10 pins. Do I set the shunts on 5 & 6 for the newer HD?

there should be a sticker on one side of the drive that tells you which pins to put the jumper on, so use the master setting if its the only hard drive your using. if its not, use the slave setting
