I wouldn't try to use anything except for what would show up in ibm's support pages. you'll need to type your model number in order to obtain the correct drivers/software/support which are specific to your model only!

Visit the site and give it a shot. Best of luck.

Driver cannot detect this device

Hi,

Does the computer detect the fingerprint reader at all? If it shows up in 'device manager' with a yellow exclamation mark then you have a driver issue. In this case try reinstalling your fingerprint reader driver software. If your device is not being detected at all, try reinstalling your usb drivers from within 'device manager' then plugging your fingerprint reader in once again. If this doesn't solve your problem, you will need to have the reader tested as it is most likely faulty.

I don't know how to use the finger recognition on my toshiba satellite , please help

Hello there!

Take note that for security-minded individuals, some Toshiba laptops can feature a fingerprint reader. This is incredibly more secure than facial recognition. You are the only person the world with your fingerprints. As long as you keep all your fingers on your hands, using the fingerprint reader is a secure way to logon to your laptop. A fingerprint reader is accurate and almost impossible to deceive, unlike facial recognition software. The convenience offered by the Toshiba fingerprint reader does not add any security risks. You can simply place a finger on the reader and access your user account.

There is several ways on how to set it up and it depends on the model. May I ask, what is the model of your Toshiba laptop?

Regards,
fossildude

Go to control panel from start menu, then click icon "add hardware".
Follow the instructions, click yes when asked about device is connected, then choose something like"human interface device", keep following the procedure until you find the hardware that match with windows.

Hope it works!!!

Couldnt Find fingerprint equipment

Hi,

Let me elaborate on what the other two were telling you. First, your fingerprint reader is a scanner, if it is showing up as a scanner then you have the device installed. Second it may not have the right driver installed so that the biometric software doesn't realize it's the right device.

First you need to install the driver from the backup you made for the fingerprint scanner. If it doen't work or is not on the backup then you neew to go to www.acer.com pick your region, then get into the driver downloads for your model. You will need the full model # ex AS5730-54857 off the bottom of the laptop to get into the downloads. Once you're in download the newest update for the finger print scanner.

Once you have that installed it should show up properly in the device manager and the biometric software should recognize it. It is always important to install the drivers before the software for these devices as otherwise they will not work. The software installer needs to see the proper device at the time it installs, so if the biometric software is currently installed, remove it then proceed with installing/updating the driver.

Bio Password lock.

First try to see if it will allow you to boot into safe mode, or contact the device manufacturer support line.

Also make sure you read the manual completely before installing the scanner.

You could also try installing the scanner on another computer, register a fingerprint online, then plug the device back into your laptop and you should now have a fingerprint registered online.
