WOW 14 years, I would give it a respectfull goodby. and spend $139.00 and keep going. The blower would have other "Age" related issuses even after you pulled all of the plastic off, removed carburetor, exaust and cylineder/head then you remove the flywheel and impeller then to split the crankcase and pull the crankshaft out replace the bearings. And all to reverse the steps wondering if you should have replaced the needle bearings and the wrist pin hopeing that the sealant you used on the crank case has sealed correctly, and are the piston rings really worn out or are they supposed to look like that. Then finally getting it all put back together only to find that it wont start because you dont have any spark or back firing because the coil is not adjusted correctly.

You have recieved GREAT service from that old blower. Good job.

ECHO PB-500T - Stopped running and added gas fuel mix. Quit running again with full tank and now flywheel is stuck and I can't pull to start it. What is the problem?

My $350 Echo PB-500T seized up. I almost cried.

The solution was to drain the fuel tank.

  • Refill fuel tank with an 2-cycle Oli/gas mixture.

  • 40:1 =3.2 oz to one-gallon gas, do not use Alcohol base gas.

  • Remove the spark plug.

  • Pour approximate 1/8 oz 2-cycle Oli into the spark plug hole.

  • Remove the pull cord assembly (4-bolts)

  • This reviled the crank shaft-Pull cord bracket

  • I use a large monkey wrench to turn the shaft (CW) Clock-wise.

  • Complete approximate 20 revolutions.

  • Reassemble, but don't install the spark plug yet.

  • Complete approximate 20 more revolutions

    by pulling the pull cord.

  • Use q-tips to swab the top of the piston, as much as possible.

  • Install the spark-plug and crank, it will smoke for amount 7-10 minutes

ECHO PB-250 blower new used one time carb.needs adj.can this carb.be adjusted

Your machine has a rotary-valve diaphragm type carburetor. These carburetors typically only have an adjustment for the IDLE speed with an available option to control the main jet with an adjustable mixture needle.

Here is the info on the Zama rotary-valve diaphragm carburetor.

Some have a small adjustment needle in the center pivot of the rotory part, under a brass plug...but most have nothing. Many end users and techs are complaining about the non-adjustable carbs. They are made this way to meet the more stringent EPA emissions codes that are getting tougher each year.

I lost my manual. What is the gas to oil ratio?

Your manual can be found here:
http://www.echo-usa.com/documentation.asp?Model=PB-251&lang=E
Please download a copy, IPL too.
Page 21 - Fuel Oil Ratio- 50:1 (2.6 oz/ 1 gal)
A rich mixture often causes hard starting.
