1 Answer

Borrowed duracraft 2831 6 m i d from my landlord. when i plugged it in it was working fine but had a very strong odour of wet plaster so i unplugged it and gave it a good clean. when i plugged it again the red full water lite was glowing and a reading of P2 was lit up????? i left it unplugged for a few days but there was no change when i tried to operate it. Any ideas? If i don't get this sorted my landlord will want the £95.00 he said he had paid for it. PLEASE HELP. Thanks Sue

It was borrowed and not hired
it is at lenders liability and you are under no obligation to pay for it
It was faulty from the minute you plugged it in so he may be try to get a new one from you
if push comes to shove , ask for the original receipt for the item and if it is more than a few months old , then he has no legal claim for a new one

SOURCE: My Holmes HM3500 Humidifier is plugged in and full

Hi there,

The tank may be full. Your dehumidifier has a safety device that turns off the dehumidifier when the water tank is full. Usually the tank itself either presses against a switch or there's a device connected to the tank that triggers a switch when the tank is in place and full.
If you've emptied the tank and the unit doesn't run, inspect the place where the tank rests to see if there's a switch or mechanism that's not being activated. You may be able to turn it on with a simple flick of your finger.

The night light turns on, nothing else works.

check the humidastat, its the setting on how much humidity you want . your supposed to turn on to high speed for a couple of minutes and then switch to low to keep filter wet. the humidity level will affect the on and off operation. other than that test the plug with another appliance such as a lamp to see if plug is good, the night light will work for awhile without power for some reason.

We had our furnace repair turn on our Aprilaire 760 last summer. It gives off a very strong smell similar to an air freshener. We'd like that to be less in intensity. Furnance company says it's just fine....

I hope this helps you, have the repair person check to see if a furnace filter air freshener was installed at your last furnace check up without your knowledge. Also checked all wall and or floor registers to make sure the source of smell is not coming from them, it may be circulating though the duct system.last thing is to replace media pad in humidifier along with furnace filters, if you have air cleaner wash filters with hot water and baking soda, wipe & let dry before re- installing them. Your repair person may have use a strong smelling cleaning solution in humidifier that is now circulating though out your home, good luck.

Humidifier fan blades stopped turning

Sounds like the brush is completely gone. You might be able to replace just the brush.

Good luck.

Motor runs but water is not going down , no mist coming out, just air

i had the same problem but i think the water tension is too high and the wick does not **** it up..just like wearing a new t-shirt and you notice that water beads up on the cloth. After wearing it and washing it,the soap in the detergent will have removed/dissolved the water tension and allowing it to clean the shirt. This removal will allow the shirt to absorb moisture easier.Same as the wick for the humidifier.Try to leave the wick in the device for an hour or so.You may add a tiny pinch of salt but not too much.Or better ,leave the wick in the bathroom when you shower as the air borne water particles will settle into the wick and trigger off the absorption effect.I hope it works for you.

No vapor

you need to take a soft toothbrush and some cleaning solution to clean the coils. if the coils are too build up of scale it can reduce the mist or not produce any at all. if that doesn't work there is something internal that is going on and i would check with the manufacturer if your under warranty to get a new one.

How do i clean the mold off my humidifier?

Fill it to with in an inch of full, add two tablespoons of clorox and fill it the rest of the way. Run it for a few minutes and then just let it sit over night. The next day empty it out and refill it with fresh water and one teaspoon of clorox. You will be good to go.

Honeywell 6013i new machine will light up but will not work

Unplug the unit (safety first), remove the two water jugs at the back lay them down. Find a tray large enough to fit the motor and filter inside of it put it next to the unit. Lift off the motor and set it next to the tray, lift out the filter and set it into the tray (in might be wet, and we wouldn't want a mess). Look for a small plastic tower in the base, inside that tower is supposed to be a float with a screw threaded into the top. If there is no screw, grab a small one that is about 5/8" long and screw it in about 1/4" put the filter and motor on, verify that the motor is sitting evenly on the base. If it isn't, turn the screw colckwise 1 full turn and recheck the motor/base fit. When it looks even, put the motor back on, plug it in and hope for the best!!
Take your time and don't forget that this is not a precision machine, so some 'adjustments' are necessary

Can't get at the fan to clean

You cannot do it as it need a specialist's skill. What i do is to insert a bubble tea's drinking straw and insert it into a vacuum cleaner's attachment that is formed like a **** and attach the other end into the grills of the device and gently vacuum the dust away.Good luck.
