Question about Cameras

1 Answer

I have a GE 8.0 megapixel camera E840s. Have always been able to download pictures onto computer with no problems. Now after connecting to computer, my camera says "connecting" but doesn't do anything. Then I get a message about options and if I pick "import photos" it will then begin to import ALL photos which are already on the computer rather than the most current. We deleted many photos to make room, thinking this would help. What's my problem? Thanks.

Your problem stems from the changes Windows makes to the registry every time it downloads updates. Pros avoid this very common problem by using a separate card reader...you should too. I have a GE 8.0 - typrice_18.jpg

You don't need any special software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Can not get pictures higher than 3.5meg, although settings say 8meg

Pixels and bytes are not the same thing. The 8mp indicates that the picture is 8 megapixels. The size of the file depends on the scene, but will almost always be less than 8 megabytes. 3.5 megabytes is about par for an 8 megapixel camera.

Hi, I would like to get the meanings of 8M, 5M in the picture size settings of the digital camera-Panasonic

The 8M and 5M in the picture size setting is 8 megapixel or 5 megapixel. You can change to a lower i.e 5 M so that you can get more pictures onto the same memory card because the resolutions change and space occupied is also less.

When you plug your camera your computer designate as a drive letter. Once that pops up under my computer, then you can open it and drag the pictures to your hard drive on your computer.
