Shutdown the computer.
DIsconnect the G-Drive.
Restart your computer.
After Windows is fully running, reconnect the G-Drive to a USB port.
Windows should "beep" when it recognizes the new USB device.

Now, open "My Computer" and right-click to select "Manage" and open "Disk Management (local)".
You should see an image showing the drive as being "unpartitioned".
Click on that image to initialize the disk-drive, and to assign a drive-letter.

Just bought a blackweb 2tb {bw-hdd6200-2tbgb} external hard drive and the driver did not install. it shows up in control panel but not in my computer. i cannot access the drive at all...please help

what os are you using
win xp and win 7 are not longer supported by Microsoft so you have to go to the manufacturer web site, find your model hard drive and download the driver that is compatible with your win os as drivers for those 2 os are no longer in the os systems

Is there any way I can get a Packard Bell iMedia S3810 motherboard/BIOS to become UEFI compliant - I have a 4TB HD which I cannot currently install any OS on to...

No, the motherboard chipset will not support the newer technology. While it is true that MBR disks cannot be larger than 2TB, this does not preclude you from using a larger disk as a boot disk. You simply have to partition the drive to make the first (boot) partition 2TB or less. You can then format and install the OS to that partition. You just can't leave the full 4TB as a single drive letter, and most users wouldn't do that anyway.

Thanks for asking your question on Fixya. ;-)
What error messages are you seeing, if any? Does Apple OS recognize it at all? Also, did you format the drive on a windows computer? How about deleting the partition and plug it back into the macbook so the macbook can set it up for you. If you plug it into the windows machine, what messages did you get from that?

Hello, this is how I dual boot my laptop with windows xp and windows 7

1. Backup all you important files, use an external hard-disk if possible
2. Make sure you have two drives or partitions: usually drive C and D
3. Insert your xp cd, do a quick format of drive C and install
4. Boot into windows xp and format format drive D if necessary
5. Insert your windows 7 DVD and follow the prompts. When it asks you to upgrade or new install, choose new installation
6. When you are asked to choose a location choose drive D
7. Complete your windows 7 installation
8. Thats it, you can now install drivers and programs

When installation is complete you will see both os options: windows 7 and previous version of windows (i.e xp)

I have done this numerous times without the need for any other step or software. The only rule is to is to install xp first, then windows 7.

All the best

Does this problem occur on other computers? 2tb is a lot of data. Do you have indexing enabled on the drive? That could be slowing things down.

1. Open Windows Explorer from Accessories.
2. Right click on the drive (or drive letter) that you want to turn off the indexing.
3. Select Properties on the contextual menu.
4. Unselect (untick) the Index this drive for faster searching option.
5. Click Apply or OK button.

What is the max size of sata HD I can install?

You can use any size hard drive supported by your operating system. For 32-bit Windows systems, the limit is 2TB, but large if you have a 64-bit OS.
