Question about DVD & Blu-Ray Players

1 Answer

AWA DVD Player DP208

This unit has recently been removed from a caravan and would like to use it for grandchildren on TCL LCD TV.

Display is presently split vertical screen (same picture on each side of vertical line) with a yellow arrowhead logo with "P SCAN" presented within.

I have no user manual and cannot work out how to resolve this issue. Remote Control has also taken residence somewhere else.

Can anyone help, please.

Can you tell me if the AWA DP208 dvd player is a multi regional player? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, i'm pretty sure that it is. That means it should play most dvd formats and most regions.

When you try to open the dvd player locked is coming up on the display unit. what's the problem

Are you using it for the first time? If so, connect a TV to the DVD output, follow the instructions to set the language. If the unit was functional and it happened recently, then unplug the unit, remove the top cover, inspect all the ribbon connectors are inserted properly (especially the ones with the ferrite beads). Be careful not to rip them.

I recently purchased a DVD which is Region 1, we are Region 4 and the DVD will not play on our AWA Combination DVD/VCR. Any suggestions?

Search google for region-free/multi-region codes codes as well as your DVD Player Model

e.i.: AWA DVDS203 region free codes
e.i.: AWA DVDS203 unlock region

Replace "DVDS203" with whatever model your DVD Player is.

Do not pay for codes! The unlock method may be simply typing some stuff into your remote or having to download firmware upgrades, burn to CD and play on the DVD Player.

Warning: Unlocking DVD Players MAY void some warranties!!

I have just recently brought an AWA DVD player model number dp644. When I put a disc in nothing comes up oin the tv, & on the dvd display screen it say the word "root". Any ideas on whats...

Hi,

Initially, would suggest a re-check of the connections. Thereafter a reset by unplugging from the mains for an hour or so. The "ROOT" message is indicative that the system's firmware is on a glitch. If the reset would not be corrective, it may be to your advantage to seek replacment considering just bought and therefore should be under warranty.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Remove any discs from the unit. Make sure your tv is on the blue screen. It should say "Progressive Scan Mode"....After removing the disc(s) from the disc changer, close the changer, press and hold the stop button on the unit, not the remote, for 5 seconds or more and it will reset to normal playing mode. Progressive Scan is typically only for TVs that use Progressive Scan....most normal TVs do not use progressive scan mode. Hope this helps...It worked for me!!!!
