Sounds like if this is a heat pump, maybe it tripped out on high pressure. Maybe just unplugging the system may reset the control boards. This maybe due to a dirty filter or dirty evaporator coil.

the reset is the size of a pencil tip and is located below the control board on the sheet metal you will see the pin hole, you have to remove the cover to see it

SOURCE: I'm not getting heat from my unit..

the compressor is controled seperately from the fan, this is done with the thermostat, try turning the thermostat on then of or untill you hear the "click" sound from the thermostat. If the compressor is still not turning on this may be more than you can fix if your not familiar with electrical hvac troubleshoting... more than lilkely the thermostat may be bad, or your compressors starting components are failing...if the compressor is comming on when the unit is turned on you could have a freon leak causing no heat. hope this may help some there is just too much to write on the causes this will give you a start though!!

Is It Difficult To ADd Freon To My Amana PTC123B35AE Air Conditioner?

That appears to be what is referred to as a P-Tac. Adding refrigerant to anything can be dangerous due to the fact that it's pressurized gas/liquid. More than that, it must be added in precise quantities. Safer, ESPECIALLY if you've not done this before, to have it done by a qualified repair shop.

Indoor or outside. Im pretty should the compressor has gone. If you turn it on does the indoor fan and outdoor fan work but not cooling . or does it not turn on at all.

Our airconditioning is broke, can we still run the heat,we belive the air needs freon, thanks

If this is a window style ac/heat unit, like most, the heater has nothing to do with the ac unit. It should be ok to run it as long as the blower fan is working ok.

If the weather outside is cold and you are running the heatpump/aircondition. Is the fan motor on the outside suppose to stop running. I notice the there is heat coming from the unit after it as been...

yes the fan will shut down during the defrost cycle. But the fan only shuts down during this cycle....other than defrost the outdoor fan motor should be running during a call for heat.

Heat setting blows cold air

you have a bad heater coil. This coil is located behind the evaporator coil in the unit. To access this coil you will need to remove the a/c from the casing. Right behind the coil you will see a metal box that has metal strands crisscrossing inside of the bos this is your heater coils. Take the model number and serail number to an appliance parts house for replacement part. Good luck on your repairs hope this helped

Need to check the condensor fan. If the fan quit working this could lock out the unit so the compressor does not over heat.

Split unit, I get heat but no cold

I have run into this with the LG brand systems. try shutting power off to the outdoor unit to reset all units. If problem persists, it could have to do with a charge level of refrigerant (freon) or possibly a failed control board.
