Question about Philips Magnavox MRD-250 System

Open Question

My Magnavox MRD250 has always worked well with its remote. I recently bought a Toshiba DVD player, but the previous Magnavox responds to every button on the Toshiba remote by changing the volume. Either up or down, it responds to the Toshiba remote, forcing me to adjust the volume appropriately everytime the remote is used. I need to stop the magnavox from responding to the remote, but maintain its functionality with its own original remote.

I have the exact same problem. I received a Toshiba DVD player as a gift because the Magnavox MRD250 stopped reading any disc that it was given after a few months. I can't stand having to adjust the volume with each and every move I make with the Toshiba remote. I can barely find a correct description of my problem online until I read this. WTH is the deal with that? And is there any solution?

SOURCE: 4 DVD players unable to read the disk.

The disc cleaners that can be purchased are little more than brushes that can clean dust only. If you can gain access to the lens of each unit, try cleaning the lens carefully using a cotton swab and alcohol. That should resolve some of the problems. If not, then for some reason you have multiple failed optics assemblies.

SOURCE: remote and player keys are not working/ volume is working

Hello, depending on how new your dvd player is ,and what brand it might be ,their are many variables to this answer , first of all if your volume works and the rest of the buttons do,nt ,I have to wonder if we are talking about a dvd player remote , because to tell you the truth i have never seen a volume control on a dvd remote! Is this a universal remote that controls your dvd and other components? if so you might have lost the code that you first programmed into it , if it,s not that ,Then lets look at the player that did work a day earlier and now it does,nt ,If niether of the two work then i would have to say it woul be a sensor issue in the board and most likely the recieving part of the board that recieves the signals from the remote and that same part of the board also controls you dvd function controls on it,s front.Another question is on electronics ,Do you have a surge protector on the components ? ,and if not Was their a storm recently in your area that could have possibly caused a power failure at your house that you might not have been around to wittness! When power surges happen near a home ( a close lightning strike) you could be out of the house and not realize it and when you return your power is restored but your digital clocks and microwave never lie when it comes to power surges because those are some of the first items you have to reset ,theese are asure sign that their was a power failure , if that was to occur without a surge protector to the dvd player , it,s quite possible it fried the board , Also make shure your remote batterys are fresh ,if it,s still not that you can try one more thing ,if you buy a universal remote for about 10 bucks , the control comes with a code book that can be programmed to your dvd player and see if that will work , if any of theese idea,s don,t seem to work consult your owners warranty manual for a possible replacement ,most home theater systems today are all in one units that have all the electronics in one unit including dvd , if this is what you have then definetly consult your manual and call customer service of your brand ,they will work with you and possibly honor the warranty and send you a new one ! I hope i was able to give you some idea,s and insight into helping you troubleshoot your problem ,! it,s been a pleasure trying to help,Sincerely Glenn mayer

SOURCE: MWD2205 remote stopped working for DVD functions

not sure but it sounds like you need to push the dvd button itself before dvd functions will work-it's to the left of the pause button. same thing happened to me and when i try that it works. remote seems to default to vcr i guess ....

Program my remote to Magnavox DVD player????

If your Magnavox Remote is a universal remote control, you should look up the code for Magavox DVD player in the user's manual. It also should indicate the procedure to program your remote and the prcedure if your device won't respond to any code..
Don't have a manual?
Do a google search fer
Manual Magnavox remote Mode
Now, if your Magnavox remot is NOT a universal control and it won't work for your DVD, theres is no way to reprogram it.

See some Magnavox code lists here

How do I program a SANYO RMT-U110 "Moonlight" to operate a Magnavox MDV 2100 dvd player?

Apparently, your Sanyo remote is programmable in which case you can "code search" to find one that works, BUT that particular remote may not have a code for your Magnavox DVD player. You may have to try another programmable remote.

If you can use the universal remote to turn the set on and off then your TV is fine. Universal remotes won't control all aspects of the TV.
