Question about Sony Optiarc AD-7240S 24x DVDRW DL SATA Drive Burner
In any SATA device the data cable becomes hard after being used for some time. Try replacing the data cable with a fresh one and it should solve this problem, provided the power supply to the drive is present (check if the drive tray is operational when the PC is powered on). A bend on the data cable also results in the above symptom. Best replace the data cable.
