Dear Marina,
Hp f2105 is a flat panel monitor, you have mentioned that you are not able to copy files to the (f) drive,My question is what is the device which you are trying to copy and what type of files(format) are they and what is the error message you receive.please revert back.

Can you download acer stuff on a hp laptop cd drive to copy on the acer

You can download the Acer drivers onto your HP laptop and then copy these drivers to an USB memory stick or burn the drivers onto a CD and then install these drivers in the Acer using the USB memory stick or the CD.

I have several files on the computer which I would like to move to a CD....i.e. pictures, or documents. I am doing something wrong because it does not allow me to copy a file to a CD???? probably my lack...

You have to burn the files to a CD, if you have Windows XP or Vista it should do this for you, the reason you are getting the error is because unlike the hard drive, the CD is not a read / write device (ie once you copy files there they are there forever, unless you are using a re-recordable cd)
You must have a CD drive that is capable of recording data, this will be a CDRW or a DVDRW drive, most computers now have these, but if yours is only a DVDRom or a CDROM, you will not be able to copy.

To burn files to disc, Put a CD in the drive
Then get all the files you want to copy and put them in a folder (saves time)
Now click on the CD drive icon in MY computer (right click and open)
Drag the contents of the folder you created onto the cd drive which you have opened
You may get asked to format the disc, this is normal (prepare the disc)
You will then see the files you have added (says "files ready to be burned to disc")
Right mouse click on the empty space in the area where the files have been added and a menu will come up, with the command "burn to disc"
Once complete the disc will eject and you need to press finish

You can add about 700MB of files onto each CD

How to download my file from my old computer

The simplest way to transfer files from your old to your new computer is by using USB flash drives. Just save your files from the old computer onto the flash drive then plug this USB drive in to the new computer and save the files there. If you have large files, you can also use an external hard drive to copy and transfer files.

I have an HP pavilion dv6000 laptop and it has been really slow for about a month. It froze up yesterday and I had to cut it off and back on and when i did not it just boots up for a few seconds cuts off...

You could buy a new (bigger? faster RPM?) disk-drive, and remove the old disk-drive.
Install Windows onto the new disk-drive.
Then, buy an adapter (USB connector at one end, and adapter for a disk-drive at the other end).
Connect the old disk-drive to the adapter, and connect it to a USB port on your computer.
Copy all your important stuff from the old disk-drive to the new disk-drive.
All your files will be there, even though the "essential" files that you need to start-up Windows have been corrupted.

Finally, buy an external disk-drive, and use it to create weekly backups of your stuff.
Do NOT delete the files from your disk-drive, to leave the ONLY copy of your files on the external drive.

I just aquired a Dell PC that is newer than my HP PC. I have no idea on how to move all my files and programs over with out loosing anything. Can you send me some instructions through email? Thanks, ...

You cannot just move your programs over, you need to install your programs using the various program installation CDs, because the installation process copies DLL files as well as putting data onto the registery file.
You can copy your data files from your HP PC to a USB memory stick and then plug this USB memory stick into the Dell's USB port and copy the data files to the various folders on the Dell PC.

How to repair missing wininet.dll?

If you see an error related to the wininet.dll file being deleted or missing, copy this file from the c:\windows\system32 directory of a working Win XP Pro
or Win Vista computer onto a flashdrive, then use the following procedure to copy it onto the failing system.

  1. At the boot screen (the first thing to appear at power-up), hit the F8 function key.
  2. Select 'Safe Mode with Command Prompt' and continue.
  3. In the command prompt window, type the letter of your flash drive, either d: or e: until the drive appears as e:> in the prompt window.
  4. Type 'dir' to see the wininet.dll file on that flashdrive.
  5. Once you see that file, type 'copy wininet.dll c:\windows\system32'.
  6. Unplug the flashdrive and reboot the failing PC.
Once you succeed in reviving the failed computer, go to c:\windows\system32 and right click on the wininet.dll file then copy and paste it to a save name (recommended name: wininet-copy.dll). This allows direct copy of that file back into wininet.dll if the problem reoccurs.

If you suspect an anitvirus engine or some other application deleted this file - and if it occurs again, make note of what was being performed, immediately before the failure mode. This will lead you to the offending program needing attention.

Good luck, hope this helps.

I would back up my data then delete both partitons and format as one drive.. Thats what I would do.. But dont do this unless you have a copy Vista or XP on CD.. The install files for your system are on your hard drive..

Drive F

You said that drive f is a CD/DVD burner. You can't save directly to a CD/DVD drive. If you would like to burn it to a disc, you need to save the file first and the use a burning program like Nero to burn to disc.
