Hello

OK, firstly, there cn be a couple of reasons for your computer not to acknowledge the HDD.

For one, does the drive spin up when you start the computer?
Does the drive make a clicking noise?
If the drive spins up, and no clicking noise is heard, are you sure your IDE/SATA cables is working properly?

If you are sure the cables is working, but the drive does not spin up, or makes a clicking noise, you will need to send your drive in for data recovery. This will cost you about $100 -$200 for this partiular drive size.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards
Andrea

If the computer cannot boot up then to retrieve your data then remove the hard drive from the computer and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter. Then plug the adapter into a working computer's USB port. This computer will detect this as an external storage device. You can then click on this device and open the folders and files to copy and backup your data files.

Boot won't read

Operating system not found. Check hard drive for loose connection power and interface. Reseat it to be sure (power cord disconnected and unit totally turn off before you reseat it).

Go to Bios setting check whether hard drive is been detected or re-detect it to refresh. If harddrive is not detected. Check again for loose wiring. If now detected, reboot it should until the end of operating system loading.

If it say again " requires sytem disk" ,corrupted OS --- repair or reinstall.
