Question about Computers & Internet

Hi there, I upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 and now my webcam is not working. I have an ASUS m70V series computer, Intel Centrino2 Duo P8600, 4gb ram, 640gb Harddrive. I get the error message "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"in the devices and printers folder when I double click on the webcam icon. I downloaded the windows automated troubleshooting "fix it" application and it searched my computer, found that I did have a problem, reinstalled the drivers but then reported back with an error message saying that the error was still there. Can you help please?

    Hi there,

    Thanks for your help!

    I have 32bit WIndows 7.

I have 2 PID codes when I go to device manager and check the hardware ID's:

    USB\VID_042F2&PID_B033&REV_6012

    USB\VID_042F2&PID_B033

The above code is not supported in the link that was sent.

Is there another link I could go to?

    Thanks again,

    Wade

Hi Eagle, I did go to the asus websitehttp://support.asus.com/download/Downloa... for the M70VN series to download the driver for the webcam, but it did not support my PID number.

Do you know if there are other drivers around? I tried googling my SID code but could not find anything.

    Thanks,
    Wade

There is no (not available) drivers for this specific PID Codes USB\VID_042F2&PID_B033&REV_6012 or USB\VID_042F2&PID_B033 for Windows 7. But there're a couple of possibilities, e.g. Compatibility and Device Doctor (or similar tools).

To install the driver in Compatibility Mode, you need to download the Windows Vista drivers (Click Here to download) [this driver is for Windows vista 32 and 64 bits]. Once it's downloaded, extract the contents to a specific folder and locate "2KSETUP" in the folder, Right-Click 2KSETUP, select "Properties" then in the properties dialog box, click "compatibility" and select "Run this program in Compatibility Mode for:", click the box below the Run this program in Compatibility Mode for: and select "Windows Vista....." {any (one) option related to Windows vista}. Also select "Turn Off Advanced Text Service for this program", click "Apply" and then "Ok". Now double-click the "2KSETUP" and proceed with the installation wizard.

It's sometime possible to install unsupported drivers from device Manager, but at least your system should detect the Hardware, in your case, that camera as Unknown Device in the Device Manager. Right-click "My Computer", then "Manage" and click "Device Manager", now locate "Unknown Device" right-click and Update drivers, and locate the drivers's folder (where you have extracted the drivers) and point to the drivers and follow the onscreen instructions.

You can also try with a free drivers update utility like Device Doctor (Click Here to download), download and install it. Open the program "Device Doctor" and click "Begin Scan" wait for few seconds until the scan's completed and check whether this software detects the drivers related to your camera or not, if so click the name and you'll be directed to the download page where you can download the free drivers. Your camera hardware should be "Chicony_CNF6150 Camera....."

Let me know if you need further help.
Good Luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Did you try installing the driver provided by Asus on their website to see if that resolves the problem?

If your windows 7 is 32 bit (very important), then go here choose 32bit. download the camera driver. check your camera''s PID code before and make sure that it is listed in the supported PID code listed.
infact even all other drivers are listed. uninstall the one you have now and install that one. If your windows7 is 64 bit, then go here, choose 64 bit and do same procedure as above.

Hi Trifon,
you are detecting a known problem for 32 bit operating systems.
The problem for those system is that they can manage maximum 3 Gb of RAM.
If you want all of your RAM used you have to install a 64 bit operating system. Windows 7 has also a version for 64 bit as well as windows xp (but is not good supported) and windows vista.

Hello there, i have this webcam model Intel CS 431 and Windows 7 on my computer. So this webcam doesn work on Windows 7? Thank you

Hi,
The webcam will work on Windows 7 - just download the latest drivers available from the intel website for the webcam, if windows 7 is not listed just download the windows vista drivers and if they do not work then try the xp drivers, you will be able to get it working with the drivers available as win 7 is quite clever like that.

Cant get Windows 7 desktop PC to recognize Intel Webcam. It worked fine with Vista/Yahoo IM

Hi again

Thanks for the info. After much reading I'm pretty sure driver support was stopped at Windows XP. Therefor this camera will not work with either Windows Vista or Windows 7.

Your only solution is to but a new one that is Windows 7 compatible.

Can i upgrade the video card intel 915 gm in my asus eee pc 904hd with 10 inch screen to suport the aero theme in windows vista

Hi,

There is already a reply for this :-

Intel will support the Windows Vista Aero desktop theme beginning with the Intel 945G/GM Express chipset and Intel 965 Express chipset families, as well as with future desktop and mobile chipsets.

Hope that would answer your solution.

Upgrade and get it fixed.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
