Question about Samsung ML 2010 Laser Printer

1 Answer

My printer is not printing as sharp as it used to, unless I print in 1200 dpi. I changed the toner but the problem stayed the same. Why is that?

If the diffuser is malfunctioning how come the sharpness of the print becomes better at 1200 dpi? Shouldn't the problem (diffuser not heating the paper enough) cause the quality to remain equally poor?

Hi:
Try changing the defuser unit, this is the unit that heats paper during the printing, before sending unit to the toner area. The defuser is located in the back of the printer and usually comes out with two screws or clamps on either side, make sure the printer is cool or you have'nt printed for a while as the fuser can be very hot. Examine it for discoloration or pits or smears, all of which can cause poor printing results, The defuser may not be heating the paper enough.

    Hello:
Yes poor heating of the paper to the correct temp will and does poor quality. My i suggest you check you printer properties and setting in the printers menu to make your setting are ok. Also the driver you are using may be outdated, check for an update driver for the printer at the makers website. The defuser is a slightly expensive part of the printer. You may also consider first blowing the unit out with canned air. And doing a minor internal cleaning.. Before replacing a Defuser unit.

Which monono laser printer suits for extra dark printing on butter paper i tried almost. Pl guide

Dear Rajendra
You can choose any laser printer with printing resolution 600-1200 dpi. According to the type of toner non-magnetic toner will perform the best and lasts long without deterioration of its color. Before buying the choosed model you may download the driver and verify the setting procedures to confirm. Also if you are going for prepare for master the driver setting should have option for lower the dpi up to 300 , in case of screen print application. Few manfs are hp,canon used magnetic toner where as samsung, brother, konica minolata etc. are used non-magnetic toner on their low/ middle segment.
Thanks.

The toner cartridges have a small CRUM chip fixed on the end of each tube. If you change them from a previously empty cartridge then it will still show empty. You just can't fool them.
Good Luck.

How do I adjust the darkness of the printing, it is currently set at 2 out of 4 darkness?

You will need to follow below process.
Print quality settings always affects on print resolution and toner usage.
to change print quality setting:
1. go to Start/settings/control panel/printers
2. then go to printer's properties.
3. go to paper/quality TAB. and select the setting that you want to use. you will get following options.
a) 1200 dpi: This setting uses ProRes 1200 to provide fine-line detail at 1200 x 1200 dpi.
b) 1200 dpi effective output quality: This setting uses ProRes 1200 to provide fine-line detail at 1200 x 1200 dpi.
c) 600 dpi: This setting provides 600 x 600 dpi output with Resolution Enhancement technology (REt) for improved text. (this is what you may need to get)
d) Economode: this settings use less toner of your printer. This is useful for mostly draft printings. You can turn this button on freely of other printing-quality settings.

Select the needed settings. Test a print.
And if it is perfect you wont be charge to give recommendation...lol

Can't figure out how to adjust darkness/tone for printer output

Hi,
Below you can see a step by step procedure on how to change the print quality of your work....you need to make test printouts in order for you to see the results....at the end there is a link to the manual for your printer...GOOD LUCK!!!

Print-quality settings affect print resolution and toner usage.
Use the following procedure to change print-quality settings:
1. Open the printer Properties (or Printing Preferences in Windows 2000 and XP).
2. On the Paper/Quality tab or the Finishing tab (the Paper Type/Quality tab for some Mac drivers),
select the print quality setting you want to use. The following options are available:
● 1200 dpi: This setting uses ProRes 1200 to provide fine-line detail at 1200 x 1200 dpi.
● 1200 dpi effective output quality: This setting provides 1200 dpi effective output quality
using FastRes 1200.
● 600 dpi: This setting provides 600 x 600 dpi output with Resolution Enhancement technology
(REt) for improved text.
● EconoMode: Text is printed using less toner. This setting is useful when you are printing
drafts. You can turn on this option independently of other print-quality settings.
