Won't run...... Dishwasher fills.... and will empty okay but it doesnt wash. There is no cycling of the washer blades. Is this a motor problem? Any ideas? I hate Sears. Contacted them and all they wanted to do was sell me a service contract. Thanks Drew

Same here. Kenmore Elite 2007 model dishwasher fills with water, heats, and will drain, but no washing is happening. The washer blades are not spinning. Then it developed the blinking light problem, which I fixed with Fixya's assistance...

Any other fixes? Sears can't be here for five days...

Hi,
It sounds like the main pump isn't running - either it is jammed with something, burned out or has a power supply problem. If you can disconnect the machine from everything and turn it onto its side and look at the base you may be able to see the main pump and check if it is free to turn, and also look for corroded contacts / broken wires.

If you are not up to doing that yourself then I guess you'll need an engineer.

Hope this helps you a bit.D

Samsung DMT300RFW Builtin Dishwasher will not run past wash cycle. I start it and it fills and the wash cycle starts but won't cycle past the wash cycle. No error codes.

Don't know enough from your description. Does the pump hum, or empty the washer? There's a strainer under the lower washer arm that may be plugged. If the pump doesn't engage at all, my first thought would be the timer portion of the control board. I'd guess the control board would run about $125 or so.

Cycle starts, but does not fill with water

When I start a new cycle, I first hear the pump run to empty out all remaining water, and after that I hear the motor run for the regular washing cycle, but there is no water in the dishwasher. After a few minutes, the cycle stops, and the washer claims the dishes are 'clean'. When I try starting a new cycle over and over again, about one in 20 times, the cycle will run normally with water. But then the next time, the problem starts all over again. Once a cycle starts correctly, everything works fine, including the rinsing.

Hi, Your dishwasher may pre-heat the water. If so, and if the water entering the dishwasher is cool, the heater may take up to half an hour to heat the water. To avoid the wait, increase the incoming water temperature before turning on the dishwasher. Do that by running the kitchen sink faucet until the water runs hot. Or increase the temperature of the hot water to the entire house at the hot water heater.
Timers don't often fail. But if every other part of the dishwasher seems to be working properly and the timer knob seems to be stuck in one place--doing one function continuously--the timer may be at fault. Dishwasher timers can't be repaired. If yours is defective, replace it.

Dish washer fills and then drians without washing

If you're sure it is heating the water, then it sounds like the wash motor/pump has failed. If you've worked on washing machines and/or dish washers before, this is potentialy a DIY job - the Haynes Dishwasher manual is very good, and parts can be found on the internet.

The reason for cheking it is actually heating the water is that the symptoms sound very similar to those of a failed heater = fill, pause, empty, stop usually accompanied wth an error code. Error code will be presented by a number of flashes of a lamp, or a number on a display panle depending whch machine you've got.

You might want to try adding a jar of "Tang" orange drink to the dishwasher and running it through a wash cycle.

Empty the washer, remove the racks.

Fill the soap dispenser with Tang and put the rest in the bottom of the washer.
Set the washer to run a normal wash cycle and when it is finished it will have cleaned out your dishwasher.
Now depending on how much debris is in the washer, you may have to do it twice.
Worked for me. Good luck.

Dishwasher fills and heats water, but doesn't wash.

To tell you the truth, I don't even know what model my Whirlpool is. However, I had this same issue. My dishwasher would fill, but it wouldn't spray the water. I could hear it hum, but the motor wasn't going.

After no success finding any ideas online, I had to call out the repairman. Well, 5 minutes and $109 later it was just a simple matter of the motor being stuck. Apparently this is a common issue with GE, but not as common with Whirlpool. Just a seal that gets stuck if you don't use it for awhile (even though there hadn't been any long stretch for me). He reached in/under and turned the motor a bit over a half rotation before it broke loose. It fired up... I wrote the check ... and he left.

He advised me to run the washer on the rinse cycle at least once a week.

Hope that helps someone.

Washer fills but won't wash or drain yet it cycles KUDM24SEAL1

Check to see if power is getting to the motor. If it is then you have a bad motor. Is the motor making a noise? Some of that broken plastic could have got down into the pump and have it locked up.

Dishwasher seems to be doing everything except washing

what your friend did would not affect the appliance. by the sound of it the main circulating pump or pump capacitor is faulty. capacitor is a cheap part but the pump will be expensive. only way to find out is to dive in and look. is pump motor is faulty then this will be faily obvious - burnt winding. if no apparant motor damage try substituting the motor capacitor - this is a cheap part

Dishwasher Repair

Ebers, you have a seperate wash and drain motor on this model. When you remove the bottom panel the drain pump will be on the right and the circulation (wash) pump will be in the rear. You are going to have to verify that you have power getting to the wash motor. Sometimes this is difficult without removing the dishwasher. The motor may have a quick connect harness going to it that you can check voltage there. If you have voltage to the motor during the wash cycle and it's not running, well, there's the problem. If no voltage, then it's probably a timer issue. Catriver..post back
