I hooked up my sons new playstation 80gb and it says on the sharp 32" 720p that the device is not reconizable or something to that effect? I hooked it up using the AC jacks that it comes with and an HDMi and it still did not work. When I hook it up to my main TV which is the Samsung A750 with Monster 1000 Ultra High Ssspeed HDMI cable it works like a champ? The HDMI cable that I was trying is of a lower line...What do you guys thinkk???? Thanks in advance for your help.

Turn off the PS3. Press the power on button (the system will beep) and hold it down for approximately 5 seconds until you hear a second beep. This will reset the video to the default. You should get a low resolution screen and be able to log on and reset the display to the desired settings.
my lil brother has one and he takes it back and forth between his dads and our moms house still works fine. if you have the ps3 hooked up to the internet you can go to the online gide to help you with the psp to ps3 connection.
You must reset your PS3 in order to accept the new TV configuration.
If the video output settings on the PLAYSTATION®3 do not match those of the cable or TV in use, there may be no picture. If the screen goes blank, turn off the system.
Then, with only the PLAYSTATION®3 and the TV connected, touch the system's power button for more than 5 seconds to turn the system back on. The video output settings will automatically be reset to the standard resolution.
unfortunately the story has not the best ending ... i had an old non-working laptop with 80Gb hdd.
I took the PS3's hdd out and replaced it with the laptop's one. Playstation did not recognize the file system and suggested to format the hard drive. Formatting was done in 10 seconds, after that system rebooted and logon screen appeared again :)
all saves from games, all music, pictures, videos and downloaded stuff are lost :(
fortunately you can re-download all purchased games from PS-Network for free.
now I have a 80Gb PS3 istead of 60Gb ..
hope this will help you too.
P.S. i've seen that Linux has support of PS3 file system. maybe this will help to restore all saved data.. but this is just my assumption
i have a new ps3, it was not made to play ps2 games it says it does not support ps2 format.. it is an 80gig no card slots all is enternal.there has to be a way around it. does anyone know how.please help.. my email is email@example.com..
if you want to be able to play your ps3 downstairs with your modem upstairs, you might consider buying a Wireless Router that has Wireless G , for your PS3. This will allow you to access your Internet all around your house without wires. I suggest looking for one that features MIMO or range plus max, or anything else that increases your signal range since there is a fair amount of distance involved.
The alternative is relocating your modem downstairs and hooking it up to the PS3. BUT your computer wont have Internet.
Boot it up without a controller plugged in. It soulnd like the Controller is doing this to you instead of the Console. If that is not the case , then you have a problem with the Controller port. Going to Config screen is controller controlled function. Only a controller can bring it out. So its one or the other. Controller , or Port. Post another comment and let me know.
