Question about Samsung SCX 4200 All-In-One Laser Printer

1 Answer

Get paper jam in paper tray too often. When we open the tray, the paper is slightly up in the front, which suggests that printer is unable to lift the paper. After several attempts 20-25, suddenly the printer will print, alongwith 2-5 extra papers, which are blank and lifted together.

Pickup roller may not be working properly and it may require cleaning using dry lint-free cloth or if needed glass cleaner or mild detergent can be used. Use damp cloth and BE CAREFUL NOT TO SPILL ANY LIQUID IN SIDE THE PRINTER. EXCESSIVE PRESSURE AND CLEANING MAY DAMAGE RUBBER PADS AND ROLLERS.

Do check for any damages to the paper pickup roller. Please make sure that the paper path is clear and there is no dust or paper pieces stuck inside the printer.

Hope this Helps!

been started.

Basically your paper tray 2 did not lift right. Open the tray and make sure the paper is loaded correctly. The paper should be touched on all four sides by the tray or by adjustable guides. My Brother HL 5250DN printer has started making a loud clicking sound when it tries to feed paper for printing. It then stops and the paper light starts flashing.

Clear the jammed paper as follows.
Observe Cautions signs in printer.
Always remove all paper from the paper tray and straighten the stack when you add new paper. This helps prevent multiple sheets of paper from feeding through the printer at one time and prevents paper jams.
1. Press the cover release button and then open the front cover.
2. Slowly take out the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly. The jammed paper will be pulled out with the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly.
3. Pull the paper tray completely out of the printer.
4. Close the front cover.
5. Pull the jammed paper up and out of the printer.
6. Open the front cover again.
7. Open the back cover.
8. Pull the tabs at the left and right hand sides toward you to open the fuser cover (1).
9. Using both hands, gently pull the jammed paper out of the fuser unit.
10. Close the back cover.
11. Pull the duplex tray completely out of the printer.
12. Pull the the jammed paper out of the printer or the duplex tray. Put the duplex tray back in the printer.
13. Push down the blue lock lever and take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit. Clear the jammed paper if there is any inside the drum unit.
14. Put the toner cartridge back into the drum unit until you hear it lock into place. If you put the cartridge in properly, the blue lock lever will lift automatically.
15. Put the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly back in the printer.
16. Put the paper tray firmly back in the printer.
17. Close the front cover.
18. Make sure that the Paper LED is now off and the printer is ready.
After clearing paper jam if noise persist printer may need a Repair Tech and parts replacement for broken or wore parts.

  • If you experience paper jams while printing, try loading one sheet of photo paper at a time. Insert the paper as far as it will go into the In tray.
  • Do not add paper while the unit is printing.
  • Do not use paper that is too thin, too slick, or that stretches.
  • Do not use torn or creased paper. Paper that has been printed previously may cause jams.

Cannot see a paper jam even when the messages say there is a Medi

The paper tray should lift to present the paper to the feed assembly. If the paper tray does not lift then that will require attention and a fairly extensive strip down to replace either the complete tray or just the lift assembly.
