I own a Sony kdf-55e2000 , when I try to hook up a ps3 through the hdmi imputs i get a message reading "unsupported signal please check device output" i can here the sound but no picture. Is there any

try only having the hdmi cable hooked up to ps3 and tv, turn off ps3 and hold power button for 5 or 10 seconds and you should hear 3 beeps, this should reset the ps3 and detect the settings, if this doesnt work you mmay have to manually change audio and video settings in the ps3 settings menu to hdmi output and auto detect which settings work.

My ps3 power turns on but there is no signal output to the tv no audio no video and my a/v wire is working cause i tried it on a fren game

The problem may not be the wire but the video output settings. A lot of other PS3 users have had this problem and the solution is this: Hold your finger on the power button for 5-10 seconds and you should then hear 2 beeps. The video output should be reset to the default composite cable. You can let go of the power button after the second beep. After you've done this, you should be able to power on with the sound and video working.

Tried to hook up ps3 to a different, older tv. was hooked up with hdmi cable and optical audio cable. bought a component cable that works with the ps3. I can't get a picture or sound. or anything else. ...

HDMI is a digital signal, so your TV and your PS3 are basically talking to each other over the connection at all times. That's why when you plug an HDMI connection into your PS3, it can detect the connection and try to switch right to it. Component cables don't work the same way, they only output information, so it's a one way street. Your PS3 is still outputting information, but it still thinks it needs to output to the HDMI port. The fix is pretty simple, and there are two options.

The Long Way
  1. Plug your PS3 into an HDMI TV.
  2. Change the Audio settings first, so your console outputs audio to a Component source.
  3. Now change the Video settings last, so the PS3 is outputting to a Component source as well.
  4. Your screen should go blank once you do this. Hit the X button once, wait a moment, then use the power button on the front of the PS3 and turn it off.
Now just plug the PS3 into the other old TV with the Component cables, and turn it on. You should have picture and sound now.

The Short Way
  1. Leave the PS3 plugged into the old TV, and turn it off with the front power button. Once the light has turned Red, hold the power button down for at least 5 seconds. Don't let go until you should hear the system beep twice.
Now you should be able to use your PS3 on the older TV without a problem.

The Short Way is a simple reset of your video card, it causes the PS3 to revert to outputting to it's out-of-box settings. If neither of these ways worked, check here at the Sony website, and one of those solutions may better fit you, but it sounds like one of the two solutions above should solve it.

Please leave a comment or rating letting me know if this solved your problem, constructive feedback is always welcome. Good luck with your console and good luck with your games.

When I turn on my ps3 i can hear the sound but i can see nothing.

Try these following steps :
Step 1 Turn the PS3 off into standby mode (red light on)
Step 2 Press and hold the power button. It will beep as soon as you press it and then beep once more about 5 seconds later. When you hear this second beep let go of the power button.
Step 3 Wait for your PS3 to start up

What this basically does is reset the video output to standard definition. You should now be able to use the PS3 menu and setup your video correctly.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa

Hdmi from PS3 doesn't get picture or sound on magnavox LCD TV but worked for the last 6 months fine.

If the video output settings on the system do not match those of the
cable or TV in use, there may be no picture. If the screen goes
blank, turn off the system. Then, with only the system and the TV
connected, press the system’s power button for more than 5
seconds to turn the system back on. The video output settings will
automatically be reset to the standard definition (SD) resolution.

We get sound but not picture...not connected to internet...using HDMI cord and it works with other devices

1 Adjust the video input on the TV to match the input connector that is being used to connect to the PS3 system. 2 Check that the cable is securely inserted. Disconnect the cable from the PS3 system or TV and reconnect it. 3 No picture could be as a result of that the video output settings on the system do not match those of cable or TV. Turn off the system. Then with only the system and the TV connected touch the system's power button for more than 5 secs to turn the system back on. The video output settings will automatically be reset to the standard resolutions.

It recognizes that there is an HDMI plugged in but when the television is set to the HDMI plug that is correct I have no picture and/or sound

Once the ps3 is set to use the av output it turns the hdmi output off so you need to go into the display settings menu select the connection/resolution and then scroll up to the hdmi output then press right to enable it.

Hopefully the tv should then find the hdmi connection.

You could also try as has already been suggested turning the ps3 off then holding the power button down on restart until it beeps, approx 5-10secs. This should reset the output. I would recommend unplugging the av output so the ps3 is forced to use the hdmi cable, make sure this is plugged in to both the tv and the ps3 first.

No video on PS3

Use regular A/V cables on the ps3. Turn off the PS3 from the back. Go ahead and hold down the power button on the front and as your doing that turn on the ps3 from the back and keep holding the power button on the front for 5 seconds.

At this point it should reset the machine back to factory defaults and you should get video. Go ahead and change the video output to HDMI and reboot the system. On the reboot you should get video from the HDMI output, if you don't then that means you have a bad main board inside of fthe PS3.
