Question about Minka Aire Ceiling Fan

Open Question

My MinkaAire Model F807 fan stopped working. I changed the switch with one that does not have the reverse switch but is otherwise the same. Now the fan works but the light stays on. Is this switch bad?

SOURCE: My fan reversed, but my controller does not have a reverse button

There is a switch on the housing of the fan. It is under the blades and above the lites if you have lights. Also same area as the chains. That is the reverse switch you might have hit it when cleaning the fan. just flip the switch iy goes left to right or reverse.

SOURCE: MY two fans Minkaaire run

I'm not familiar with your brand of fan, but like all the others I've seen it should have a direction switch somewhere on the housing. This is a two-position slide switch, often unmarked but sometimes labeled "winter/summer". When the switch is moved from one position to the other it switches the fan's direction. Turn the fan off, find the switch and flip it, and when you turn the fan back on it will turn the other way.

voltage regulator speed control has gone it will need replacing. you will need to get the part number off the regulator that's inside the light housing in the top.

Why did fan and lights stop working?

If you are controlling lights and fan only with the remote - no problem. Once you start flipping switches, the remote control loop is broken. You can restore remote control by setting the wall switches to off, turning off power at the circuit breaker (or fuse), and waiting for a few minutes during which you will be removing the battery from the remote and pushing all buttons, then reinstalling the battery. When time is up, restore power and try the remote. If no luck, check to be sure the wall switches are set to off and repeat the routine.

You called customer care about a Hampton Bay & they sent you Minka Aire??? Hampton Bay is a store brand for Home Depot. If The fan came with a remote, you probably need the one for your fan.

HOW TO CHANGE DIRECTIONS OF BLADES ON HAMPTON BAY MODEL #70226

There is a switch on the side of the fan motor housing. Slide it the opposite way to reverse it. Make sure you wait until the fan comes to a complete stop to do so. Never reverse it while it is running, you could overload the motor and ruin it.

I believe they don't put the reversing switch on any remotes for that very reason.
