Question about Compaq Presario 700 470024-192 Notebook
I would suggest you obtain the Restoration Disk from HP Support.
(HP bought out Compaq)
The Restoration Disk has the basic Windows files, and will repair the registry.
The disk is free. The shipping and handling is not.
In the US it's $17 for a 5 to 7 day ship, $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.
Call HP Support at their toll free number
1-800-474-6836 in the US.
Have the Product Number (P/N) written down to tell the representative.
It's on the white Service Tag, on the bottom of the laptop.
For areas not in the US, here is HP Worldwide Support,
Upon receiving the Restoration Disk, start your computer, put the disk in the optical drive.
When asked perform a Non-Destructive Restoration. (Repair)

Ok the r is when you load from the cd i will guess your running xp put the xp cd in the drive boot the computer from the cd let it run the setup part then when it says so press r to repair your pc
