Question about JVC AV-56WP74 56" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
I am far from you, I am in Chicago.
I tought that might not be the conververgence. because when I want to watch TV, I turn on the TV and I do Auto Convergen once or twice. then I press Freeze or Split on my remote back and forth, and suddenly the picture comes in great quality ??????
I am a Canadian medical doctor ( recently moved here ) and I don't know much about TV. I accept what you say and I buy your words. I am very good with repairing things and I hope I will learn to repair this TV too without any damage to it. I asked some body to come and repair it. He asked me for $300 that is alot for me untill I begin my job.
Could you please tell me the cost of repair?
I don't know if I can ask you more questions when I go through those steps you mentioned????
my direct email is: email@example.com

You need Convergence IC's. It is more difficult than batteries on a remote.
You access the convergence board through the inspection plate that is located behind the front speaker grill.
You remove the board, determine if any resistors are burnt, replace any burnt or out of tolerance resistors, replace 1 or 2 IC's and re-install the board.
Now you have to adjust it to look like new.
If you haven’t misadjusted it too badly, do the auto focus and it is back to where it was before IC failed. If it is still misadjusted badly, then resistors may be wrong value or open.
If you live around Calgary, try me instead:
Or try the find a repairperson part of this website, maybe you will be lucky and someone is listed nearby.
Most rookies doing this job will cause damage and not be successful, and pay double for someone to fix their mess or end up scrapping the TV.
