This could be a sign that your laptop is overheating. If you touch the laptop while it is running & you find it too hot, make sure that the fan is running properly & that the air ways are not blocked.
You can blow compressed air into the cooling vents of the fan. If you notice clouds of dust coming out, then it might be a good idea to disassemble the laptop, clean the fan & air ways, & reassemble it back. If the fan has failed & is no longer running, it might need to be replaced.

When i start up the laptop. the screen flashes continouosly for a good 5 minutes

Does it boot up? Are you able to use it after 5 minutes? What does the flashing look like? Is it flashing the boot up posting processes?

Have you tried booting up in Safe Mode and see if it flashes for 5 minutes?

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFE MODE. Take the Safe Mode option and let it boot up. Safe Mode will look different to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this is normal.

I have one problem in my laptop toshiba C640. i use win xp as my OS. my laptop if i has shutdown this laptop, during 5 or 10 minutes my laptop is turn off. suddenly after 5 or 10 minutes my laptop is turn...

Okay, when you turn the laptop on keep tapping F8, and then goto the option Safe mode. login there and wait to see if this happens there as well. If no, then its a software problem and you can revert to me and I will tell you more about it. If yes then turn your laptop upside down and take a vacuum cleaner and clean the bottom of the laptop.
If you are using the laptop on a bed or sofa, then use it on a table or get a stand for it, so that there is some ventilation space for the processor fan to take out the heat.
If this does not help, then revert.
Thanks. If this was helpful, then kindly rate me.

Battery indicator keeps fluctuating to 4hrs to 6hrs back to 4hrs then 8hrs every 5 mins or so i have acer A0532H with windows 7

first of all let me ask how old is the battery, if it`s new-discharge the battery until pc shuts down itself because of low battery, remove the battery , unplug AC charger from laptop, wait for 5 minutes, then hold power button for 5 full seconds, wait another 5 minutes, then put battery and ac charger on , don`t turn on laptop yet, wait until battery indicator shows that battery fully charged, then remove AC charger, and turn on laptop. P.S. you can try this on old battery too, but usually worthless, because old batteries are not recognizable by system currectly ..

I have a tecra S1 toshiba laptop, when i ON the laptop, the power LED goes ON, the harddisk seems to be operating, but there is not any video on the screen, could it be the mother board?

Hello,

In order to resolve the issue follow the steps below:

1. Turn off the laptop
2.Remove the battery
3.Remove the power adapter
4.Press and hold the power button on laptop for 1 minute in order to remove static charge.
5.Relese the power button after 1 minute and reinsert the battery and power adapter.
6.Turn the laptop on.

This should solve your problem. If the issue persists follow the steps below:

Turn off the laptop

1. Remove the Hard disk
2. Remove the memory RAM.
3.Wait for 2-3 minutes
4.Reinsert the hard disk and RAM.
5.Turn the laptop ON.

This shpuld resolve the issue. Is the issue persists than it is a clearly indication of mother board malfunction and even could be with display.

Thank you.
