Screen goes black when a/v cord connected

I plug in the cord, the screen goes black.
goes for both the computer cord and the TV cord, so it must be in the camera.
menu doesn't appear, etc... just black.
can't access any pictures, but other than that the camera works fine.

if this is like a setting or something, i'd like to know before taking it to get fixed.
thanks.

Thanks, but i really think the problem is within the camera.
it worked fine, and then one day i plugged the cord in and BAM! black screen. i was so confused. so i tried the other cord it came with, the one for the TV, but the same thing happened. sooo i guess i have to get it fixed :P

I had a bad cable on mine. Once you plug the cord in the camera controls will appear on the screen. If you get a hold of Sony they can get you a new one.

You might be able to find a new one at a computer store depending on what connection goes to the back of you camera to get it to work (like a mini jack).

I have a dxg 569v hd 720p digital camcorder and everything works great except when i connect it to a usb cord. the screen goes black and the green light stays on. i bought it used from a friend so i cant...

Try NOT connecting your camcorder to your computer.

The best way to download videos from your camcorder to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camcorder to the computer, and won't run down your camcorder's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy videos from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any video cataloging program, such as iMovie on Mac or Windows Movie Maker on Windows.

How do i download pictures from camera to computertwhen i plug my cord into camera from computer my camera screen turns black.

most digital cameras screens turn black when plugged in as they go into connect mode the screen going black should not be a problem as the sofware to load the photos should pop up on the computer and ask you if you want to load them if not try re installing the software that came with the camera

When plugged into the computer my camera...

It could be (Cable, USB Port, or a driver problem)
try reinstalling the drivers & then use a high speed port (do not use USB hub or the USB's in the front side of your desktop), after connecting the camera, turn it on (make sure you have a fully charged battery

PROBLEM WITH PENTAX OPTIO E10

Sounds like battery life is gone. If there rechargeable batteries they might not be holding a charge anymore.

If your camera has a power cord that plug into your camera to charge the battery does it do the same thing?

If it doesn't have a power cord, what happens when you plug the camera into your computer?
