Can't scan anything from my Lexmark 8350 to my Gateway Windows Vista hard drive

I purchased both from HSN several months ago. Printer works great, faxes great. But today I tried for the first time to scan a pic from the printer to the computer. Printer says can't find scan application list from computer. The printer shows the pic in the 2" X 1 1/2 " window, but won't sent it to the computer. The Lexmark book says to click on the Productivity Icon on the computer, but there is none. I searched the computer for that program and it doesn't find it. Help please!!!!!!

Hi Cable4Fun, we want to help you with your question, but we need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?
Which vista 32 bit or 64 bit ?
Did you install the lexmark x8350 driver or did windows fid a driver for you ?
The productivity suite might be included in the driver from lexmark ?
suggest if you have not done this already to download the driver from lexmark and then run the install of the driver and see if it installs the productivity suite software. http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=dr...

put Lexmark X8350 as product name

Sounds like the computer is coming from sleep, standby or hibernation mode. Go to the power settings in the control panel, and disable all of these options. Disable your screen saver as well. Leave the machine on for a day and see if it happens again after this. Post your findings, please...

SOURCE: My computer mysteriously now does not show my

Well your second hard drive did go belly up so what you need to do is get a new hard drive because from what you have explained to me it's fried. Now one other way that you can try and get it back on there is to boot up your computer but before it goes to the windows screen go into bios and select boot options and make sure that it's checked as a secondary if it already is then you need to go get a new hard drive which runs about $25.00.

SOURCE: My Gateway GT4010 PC keeps rebooting itself before

Try replacing the hard drive cable. If that doesn't fix the problem, then you may have bad RAM, bad motherboard or a bad power supply. Sounds like a hardware issue and not software. try booting your computer in safe mode since it doesn't load all the device drivers. If it still reboots then you'll have to keep swapping parts and booting up the computer to isolate the problem.

Testimonial: "If I keep swapping parts to isolate the problem, then I have to buy these three parts, that could be not worth it. Should I just buy a new PC?"

My Lexmark x6170 all-in-one Printer will not scan

I have the same printer, Windows Vista, and also only use the device drivers, but do not experience the problem you are having. The only problem I have with it is that scanning using MS Office 2007 times out before the image can completely transfer. So uninstalling your existing drivers and then reinstalling may do the trick.

If you still wish to install the All-In-One Center software, Lexmark will only provide the device drivers, as you have discovered. However, there are reports that the Lexmark X6100 series AIO (All-In-One) is identical to the Dell A960 AIO. And, fortunately, Dell is kind enough to provide the similar All-In-One Center software.

Click here for the 32-bit Windows XP version. (just in case)
Click here for the 32-bit Windows Vista version.

Give it a try and please report back as to whether or not it worked for you.

Lexmark 4270 will not install

I believe this will fix it for you as it did for me. I have a Lenovo laptop that updated from XP to Vista and the Lexmark 4200 X4270 All in One Printer would not print or scan. I had to do the following:
1. Delete all printers in control panel.
2. Do full update with Vista install disk
3. Make sure cable to Lexmark is not attached to Laptop until Vista does full update
4. Download the updated Lexmark Driver for whichever version of Windows you are running from the link provided below.
5.Install item in #4
6. Plug in cable to Lexmark and put the Lexmark SW installation disk in and it should finish itself for you.
