The way to reset password is to remove the battery and restart the computer or you will see three pin with a jumber remove the jumber short pin 2 and pin 3 and restart your computer this will reset the bios when you restart you will see press del to go to bios or F1 to default setting pres del then adjust your bios if the password pop up click enter without entering the password in confirm password click enter blank password go to exit click save and exit on restarting and shut down your computer uplug the power cord if you have shorted the CMOS pin put them back to pin 1 and 2 and if you removed the CMOS battery replace them and restart your computer

you can't find it, if it's a BIOS password, you're totally out of luck.

Need BIOS Master password

you can remove this password by removing the bios battery. remove the cap where the ram goes... and you will have very easy access to the board. unplog the cable that goes from the bios battery to the board (make sure the pc is off and main battery is out.) plug back in the cable and boot your pc.

Need to reset the bios password on my dell xps m140 laptop.

You would have to reset the whole bios to default which maybe something you cannot do. The only other method would would be to take the laptop apart and remove the battery that keeps the motherboard BIOS memory powered. It should look like a large watch battery. Remove for 5 to 10 seconds, and replace. Then put the laptop back together and that should reset the BIOS, password and all.

Bios password reset on a Dell XPS 1530. Bios reset software will not work for you cannot boot from disc while a bios password is implemented. Removing CMOS battery overnight does not work either.

I am not going to take credit for information but here the link. Please read, removing the CMOS battery will never solve it nor replacing it.

My Dell XPS 400 PC will not Boot up past the "System password"

Both the system password and the BIOS password are set in the BIOS CMOS. You need to clear the CMOS.

The online Dell service manual for the XPS 400 provides a clear and detailed procedure for clearing the CMOS. It's just a matter of moving some jumpers around:

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/xps400/sm/index.htm

If you are not used to working inside computers, start with "Removing the computer cover", then go to "System Setup" and click on "Clearing Forgotten Passwords".

Another method is to unplug the power cord and remove the CMOS battery for a 1/2 hour or so. For details on how to do that, try this website:

Hello, I have a Dell XPS 400 system that has a bad hard drive. So I went out and bought a new SATA drive, and it's not detecting it upon boot. When I go to the boot menu on F12, it says something about...

Was the original drive also a SATA? If not, then you would need to enter the bios setup and enable the onboard SATA channels. If the bios had gotten defaulted, as from a dead CMOS battery etc. it could have also caused your original SATA drive to be inaccessible.
