Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

I had to bring a computer home from our office where it was connected to a network. I am trying to install the printer CD for the HP LaserJet 3055 printer and at some point in the process, I get the following error related to the S: drive. The S: drive was on the network server at the office and this CD is apparently referencing it for some reason and generating the error message because there is no S: drive at home. MSI.Scan Box - Fatal error during installation. Error 1327: Invalid Drive: S:\ Is there a quick fix that I can turn something on or off so the S? drive is no longer related to this computer? There was a DOS command string that ran at startup and did something in reference to the network drives, maybe connects the local computer to the network server, that maybe is still trying to run but is not successful. Maybe it is causing this error message. If so, how do I stop that from running at startup? Any thoughts? Kim M. Rudisill

Go to START >>> RUN then type msconfig..(click on OK). It should bring up System Configuration window. Go to STARTUP tab then un-tick the entry you think is the DOS Command String. This should disable it from running during startup. Restart the computer.

Hi,
If you have installed the printer using Add printer and faxes then you have just install the printer drivers which will allow you to print over the network.
However if you want to scan over the network than you have to install the complete software of the printer .
If you do not have Software CD than you can download and install the software fom Link below.

Does HP LJ 3055 printer scan over the wireless network?

Scan over wireless network is not supported with this printer. You can try set it up and get scanner to work with usb and then change port from usb to HP standard TCP/IP for the device, but I don't think it will work.

HP laserJet 3055 network connection

HOW TO CONNECT HP 3055 TO ROUTER/WIRELESS NETWORK. WINDOWS XP/WINDOWS VISTA.

I have just finished successfully connecting my HP 3055 to my router and using it over wireless on 2 computers, one with windows XP SP2 and one with VISTA.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONNECTING HP 3055 ON XP:

FIRST CONNECT THE PRINTER TO THE ROUTER WITH A ETHERNET CABLE. FIND OUT THE IP ADDRESS OF YOUR PRINTER. By me it was 192.168.0.66

Go to CONTROL PANEL and open "PRINTERS AND FAXES". on the top left choose "ADD A PRINTER" click "NEXT".

In the "LOCAL OR NETWORK PRINTER" window, choose "LOCAL PRINTER ATTACHED TO THIS COMPUTER" and uncheck "AUTOMATICALLY DETECT"... click "NEXT".

In the "SELECT A PRINTER PORT" window click the radio button "CREATE A NEW PORT", click the down arrow and choose "STANDARD TCP/IP PORT".

In the window that pops up click "NEXT"

In the ADD PORT window, where it says "PRINTER NAME OR IP ADDRESS, type in your printers IP address, by me it was 192.168.0.66. The bottom line will fill in automatically. Click "NEXT".

In the "INSTALL PRINTER SOFTWARE" window, if you have the disk just choose "HAVE DISK" and install from there. If not, in the left column choose "HP" and in the right column choose "HP LASERJET 3050" (by me it showed up in the list, you can download the driver from here http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=1140780&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=1161389&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=228

click "NEXT"

In the "NAME YOUR PRINTER" window, choose a name and also choose if you want to set it as the default printer (recommended) Click "NEXT"

In the next window choose whether or not you want to share the printer, and if you do assign a printer name. Click NEXT. The next window is optional if you want to make a name, you can just click NEXT and your done! Print a test page to make sure that all is fine.
