Mostly, printer cartridge error occurs when the printer head is unable to identify the cartridge properly. And the basic reason behind this is that the cartridge is improperly attached. To reattach the cartridge, turn on the lid of the printer and then remove the cartridge from the printer head. Check the cartridge to make sure that there are no scratches or other damaged parts that can contribute to a printer cartridge error report. Take note that the cartridge should not be left open for more than 30 minutes; otherwise the ink will start to dry up and the cartridge will get clogged.

The printer won't print. It says replace the color ink cartridge. All I want to do is print black and white.

You can only use the black ink cartridge without the color ink. But no need to replace them in your printer.
When you print just choose black and white for the printed text must be black not colored. But if you still received such notification...just try to replace the color ink cartridge to continue printing
Note: As per my experience. printer with exclusive black ink alone will damage the printer easily due to unbalance printing of ink

Can I print black and white without having color cartridges?

You need to have color cartridges installed for your printer to function. You can however print black and white with empty color cartridges. If you do this you may damage the print head and not be able to print in color again. If you can live without color printing I recommend a monochrome laser printer. It will never print color, costs 1/2 as much to print with, won't dry out, and the cartridges last way longer than ink cartridges.

My printer has been printing for 3 days in a row now WITHOUT a black ink cartridge inserted! How is this possible? It prints black text alright, so it cannot be the color cartridge in there doing the...

If there is no black cartridge installed and the printer is printing "black", it's not true black. The printer combines the colors to make black. I didn't think that it would print at all with a cartridge missing. Learn something everyday!

My canon MP145 three-in-one printer cannot print because the coloured ink has finished. How can i continue to print using black ink only?

Hi joyce2020
Some printers do print even if one cartridge is empty.
This is what you have to do. Goto the print setting page. you will find check boxes for Print in Color OR Black& White.
Usually, the color box is checked. When you check the box for color, you can print in black and white as well provided the text is written in B&W. If you check the B&W, the printer will print everything in black including color text and graphics.

Hope this will work for you.
Good Luck

I have a full black ink cartridge and no color cartridge and it won't print - black and white text.

In the Printer properties
There is an option like:
Print in color Print in Black and white (it may be different wording for different printers)
Change it to print in B&W
When you get your color cartridge remember to change it back to color - Normally it should be left in color.
hope this will work for you

Can i print black and white text only when colour cartridges are empty but black is full on an ip14300?

you can make a selection from the File->Print option of your word processor or whatever package you are using. it is your command that sets the printer to B&W or color. If your Black ink finishes then the printer even if set to color will print black as near black with color inks.

How can I print a color picture without using a black catridge?

Black ink is an essential part of the printing process. The black color is only made by the black cartridge, the color cartridge does make "black".
One or more optional photo cartridges may be available, depending on your printer model.
  • Use the photo cartridge with a tri-color cartridge for best-quality color photos and graphics, and sepia or antique photos.
  • Choose a gray photo cartridge to print black and white photos with truer grays and richer blacks.

Printing without color?

Im sorry to inform but yes, Epson ink jet printers require all of the ink cartridges to have ink in them in order to print any color, black and white, or grayscale images. Epson printers contain a permanent print head that needs to be charged with all colors to work. Even when users are printing black text only, a small amount of color ink is used to keep the print head charged for color printing and prevent air bubbles from entering the color print nozzles which can damage the print head. Therefore, once one of the cartridges are expended, the printer signals you to replace the cartridge in order for printing to continue.

Not print and not scann without colour cartridge

most printer require all cartridge to be present and recognised before they will operate- even though you only wish to print -say- text in black. When printing in most machines all colours print even if it is only text you want. Except some machine can have a black only mode This will be found in the properties menu, if your machine has the facility
