My wife put a dvd in the front load The Westinghouse SK26H590D TV today and it didn't start up and we can't eject it. Any clues on how to get it out?

No I ended up taking it apart myself and located the problem and solved it without throwing away a TV set that I just paid 700.00 for less than a year ago. So your solution to the problem (from leethedeuce) was ridiculous.

You will have to have it serviced most likely because there are no user serviceable parts. Unfortunately Westinghouse tv's are throwaways. In that once something goes wrong you replace it. Unfortunately thats why they are cheaper then the competitors.

Well if you would have let me know that you would like to attempt the service yourself I could have helped walk you through it. The average consumer does not have this know how. I am sorry you felt this way if it was that easy then a reputable service guy would have not charged you that much as I did recommend service.
    Thanks though,

Sorry to hear you are having so many problems with your TV, one thing you can do to eject the DVD is to unplug the TV, hold down the eject button, plug the TV back on, (still holding the eject button) press the power button and the movie should come out. You might need a second person to assist you with this, if this does not work you can send me an email at and we will figure out what you can do to have this fixed.

Can't eject DVD from our Tevion TDR251HD recorder.

The only way I guess that you could do this is if you take the cover off of the DVD player and remove the DVD from the tray that supports it. There should be some Phillips screws (or other type) on the top, back, front, sides, or bottom of the DVD player. Unscrew them, remove the cover, and try to get the DVD out. You may have to unscrew a circuit board if there is one over the DVD tray. Make sure that the power is OFF and the unit is UNPLUGGED before you try anything! This is the only way that I know of that could solve your problem.

to eject the disc, turn off your TV and hold the eject button then power TV back on. Regarding the DVD feature not working, you may need to change the main board. If your TV is still in warranty, call 1-800-701-0680 for an in home service.

DVD trying to eject

I just took my West. DVD 40" apart
Very cheap DVD player inside.
Fixed one problem - the felt glued down to inside of DVD player to keep DVD from getting scracthed when inserted inside the player came off and was binding DVD - this may cause DVd to want to eject - I am calling Westinghouse to see if they will send me a new DVD player to install.
DVD has gotten louder over the past few of it's 20 month life as well - to an unacceptable level.
