Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Use an older keyboard on a newer computer? My wife likes the feel of the old one.

why not buy a real keyboard. for USB?
vast types, even for $8.
hp what you never side what HP puter.??
hp made them for 33 years, 1984 to now.
endless.
my guess newer HP, like 10 years or newer
and has USB ports
then you found a USB to PS/2 adaptor (vast types exist)
but many dont work. right.
btw this is classic failure from 1999 to to now.
endless posts world wide,,,
the trouble is the PS2 keyboard, send commands very different that USB does.
Try this go to bios and turn on legacy USB>
maybe it can see he keyboad at boot (bios sees t first)
then BIOS passes this discovery to windows 10..
ive not touched or seen a PS2 keyboard, in years.
like year 2000?> 18 long years ago.
im old. worked them all.
PS/2 >>>>>adaptor >>>> USB modern system.
the adaptor must do 2 things, send power correctly to the KBD.
then translate PS/2 sings to USB sigs.
then BIOS needs to understand plug and play IDs from PS2
if missing IDs, or garbled, its born dead.

good luck there.
btw your pc is not PS2 certified so....

Recovery discs aren't working on my hp cq60-615dx, what should I try next?

Appears that recovery disk #2 is bogus. U can try to get a new set from HP (fat chance!) or you can do a reload from a normal, retail OS disk.

HP Boot problem

a1540n PC Desktop fails to boot unstated OS....
a very obsolete PC, in fact HP retired, support.
no problem really but makes getting books on it harder... facts...

  1. so did you make sure all fans work? and stay on,
  2. does the DVD drive eject button work
  3. does the keyboard caps/num/scroll locks LED toggle, when pressed
  4. does BIOS work with 1 DDR2 RAM stick (1 by 1) not 2 at once
  5. do the fans all work , up to 3?
  6. Does the F1 key work, hit fast at power on button, in 1-3seconds? immediatay after power on.
  7. did the screen show Hit F1 to enter HP setup? if yes did you?
  8. any PCI expanisin cars in the PCI slots, remove them?
  9. remove DVD and HDD cables, see if BIOS works.
  10. CPU fan Heat sink fins not packed in lent, as all are, clean it with Can-o-air?
  11. test the PSU? (ask)
The goal is BIOS screens, first. first things are first.

carbon dating retired PCs (hp zero support now)
is not easy. and is key to learning what BIOS is there (a pain)
the date you bought this PC is not important , the date it was made maters only....
standing here, i cant do that, id need to do hands on inspection
old AMD Athlon 64 X2

says ,,,,DDR2 SDRAM 2x1g it says, remove one?
NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE TurboCache supporting 256MB
integrated, VGA.... no card. if it has a card for VGA remove it to test system using integrated VGA jack on MOBO
best i can tell, 99% off all review on pc have TIME STAMP(DATE)
but one review said it had norton 2006
so we know that one is 2006 and is over 10years old.
maybe 12 years old.. the dvd drive has date code, there in clear english, dates, if it says 2005 , there it is. other HP codes
in the PC also date the PC.

i looked up your ASUS mobo and they says its
The current bios is 3.07 phoenix-award bios.
Even ASUS dont have data on A8m2n mobos. now.

huge list of keys on PHoenix bios.
my guess is F1 or F10 is the BIOS hot key
remember HP ordered Phoenix bios under contract and HP
can in fact dictate hot keys... so HP wins here.
find the answer to this is hard. (no HP books)

hint 1: the coin cell battery can be dead, replace it on the mobo
life spans 3 -5years possible most makers top life is 7.

the goal is here, if this works we test the HDD next.
see?
its just 2 goals, BIOS, below
then getting the HDD working and last the unstated OS working.

I cannot get my EX495 to recognize my bootable USB drive in the bottom port on the back (or any other port). I have wiped the 1.5 TB drive and formatted it. I have a KVM connected to the MSS and have...

KVM are known to be very very unreliable. some work a bit
or only partly , or are intermittent. (i can talk all day on this horror)
the usb drive, is booted by BIOS and nothing else.
so if BIOS can boot to it, ever think that is not a feature on this old PC server>
the PC came with 3 OS options
XP,,windows home server or windows server 2003
what OS???? you posted with NO OS STATED.

id test that USB port (or all of them) to see what it can do and cant do Boot-wise. ? can it boot a USB stick? with say linux, live?
if not, then its not a feature of your BIOS. !
has 4 x USB 2.0v ports (old type)
USB 2 only has 0.5amps of power (weak) and will not run HDD unless its in a case with its own 1amp or more power pack.
that is a fact. so buy a real case for it and a real power pack
HDD suck lots of power, for sure startup. !!! (has motor)
the hardware ex495 is old, it has NO HP support now.
seems 2009 year. did hp drop support early? seems so..
no books, to read about its BIOS limits. , why use this old PC?
that link you put up is old, and no activity there.
first get rid of the stinking KVM, when all works alter do KVM horrors far later.

then go here.
why not ask HP,???

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/

old PC did not boot to external drivers.
this we know. at what year this started, not sure.

my guess.
no external HDD stated, or its maker or model nor if it has a power pack, that I must have, for USB2,
BIOS may not like to book hdd. external...

your inputs are lacking,,
like , internal driver boots and works perfect? be a key fact.
