Several times I tried tapping F8 while booting up. It opens to the screen that says Windows failed to open, suggests I use the recovery disk (which I don't have) and directs me to open in normal mode, safe mode, etc. None of these, of course, work. Any other ideas?

I ordered the recovery disk from Gateway and it should be here sometime next week. I'll let you know and maybe you can tell me how to go about using it. If that doesn't work I'll try the process you mentioned, but I hate to lose the data. Thanks!

Boot to Advance Boot Options by tapping F8 while booting your computer. Once you are in the Advance Boot Options menu, Choose "Repair Your Computer". That should initialize the startup repair. Good Luck.

It seems that the registry corruption have affected the Windows normal boot execution. You will be needing the Windows Installation Disc to repair this error without loosing your data on the computer.

If you don't have any important files to loose, The way to restore Gateways to it's factory setting, is to hold down the ALT Key and repeatedly hitting f10 then it should bring you to a boot sequence screen. Choose the HDD and then hold down ALT and repeatedly hit f10 again that should promt the restore feature for gateway.

If you will be able to get hold of a Windows Installation CD, I'll be happy to post the recovery commands to restore the corrupted registry hives.

    Hope this helps.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 stuck in windows boot manager file \windows\system32\config\system status: 0xc000014c info: windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing or corrupt ...

Here's part of an article on how to replace that registry file:

Look in the C:\windows\system32\config\regback\ folder.
There should be copies of the registry files stored inside that folder.
They are backed up periodically and stored in that folder.

If you create a MiniWin, BartPE, or a Linux Live CD, you can start the computer from CD and move the file system to the required folder, C:\windows\system32\config\.

If you have the Vista disk, insert it into the CD Rom player. When it starts it will ask you if you want to repair or install a fresh copy. If you choose repair, it will fix any missing registry files

Error code in windows vista 64 bit ''0xc00000e9 - windows failed to load because the system registery file is missing or corrupt''

If it is a system registry error, boot up in safe mode and run CHKDSK/F this may find errors on the hard drive. To do this press Start and type CHKDSK/F into search box then run it.
You may have to purchase a registry utility.

Will noy boot up

Hello,

some of your operating system files is missing/corrupt, that's why the main windows cannot open/load.

You will need to repair your windows operating system (win xp/vista), in other to solve this problem.

To repair your windows, you will be needing a windows operating system CD, insert it into your player and run setup. While you are installing, it will get to a stage where the system will ask you if you want to restore, click restore and the missing/corrupt files will be reinstalled.

Good luck.

Keep getting this message <window

Hello,
  • "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
    <Windows root>\system32\hal.dll.
Please re-install a copy of the above file."

  • "<Winnt_root>\System32\Hal.dll missing or corrupt:
Please re-install a copy of the above file."

  • "Cannot find \Windows\System32\hal.dll"

  • "Cannot find hal.dll"
The "missing or corrupt hal.dll" error displays shortly after the computer is first started. Windows XP has not yet fully loaded when this error message appears. CauseCauses of the "missing or corrupt hal.dll" error include, naturally, a damaged hal.dll DLL file or a hal.dll file that has been deleted or moved from its intended location.Additional causes may include a damaged or missing boot.ini file or possibly a physically damaged hard drive.

Please let me know you have any further questions or concerns.
Thanks.

When i tried to start windows i get this error message every time ''windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing, or corrupt'' , i have a compaq presario vs210us... Can any tell me...

What OS are you running? For XP and Win2000, get the OS install or upgrade disc for your version of Windows. Boot from the CD. (F12 just after the POST will let you choose the boot location. Try again if you miss the timing.)

Enter the recovery console and try to restore the old registry. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545 for the XP commands involved.

Windows 7 install discs also have some recovery options when you boot from the CD/DVD as a LiveCD. But it is called the System Recovery (you can build your own System Repair disc with a working version) See the following for more information:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/668-system-recovery-options.html and then System Restore:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html
Vista has something similar but didn't have an option for building a System Repair disc to my knowledge.

You might lose some registry information (depending on how often you had the system backup the critical information). These methods basically roll back to a previous version.

Good luck.

Dell 100l ntdrl missing on start up

Hi,
For some reason your boot files are missing.
ntldr ( NT loader ) is one of the main boot files that is missing.
possibly a boot sector virus.which corrupts the ntldr file.

Put the disc back in, and you can choose to either install the O/S, or you can repair the current O/S, go for the repair,

Should resolve the problem,

Then run a full system vius scan,

Should be good then

Regards
Richard.
