I have a nonfunctioning "enter" key on my Dell Latitude, and can't reinstall Windows XP because of it.  (Normally I just use an external keyboard, but in boot mode it won't work.)

Any advice on fixing the key, or working around it?  I tried entering the ASCII code (13), but had no resonse.

    Thanks!

No problem people. I am here to help. The thing you can do is to return the keyboard to the store you bought it. Or if you like online shopping, here is a list of keyboards you might want to considered:http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/default.mspx

Please!!!! Tell me if this works.

I have a Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard 4000. Some of the keys don't work at all. The ones that do work type the wrong letters. This is what I get when I type my name. darlene albin/uxgmtkt;xmwpk

Hi,

Good day. I'll advise you to purchase a new keyboard because the the letter are already not correct which means the keyboard is already broken and there's no way to fix it. Im sorry but that's the only solution that can resolve your issue. Hope this information help you. Have a great day to you.

When i press the the key between the z and the c everything i've typed disappears which is why i have to write the "key between the z and the c" i have a microsoft wireless lazer keyboard and mouse

Sounds like the x key is acting as a delete key. Try another keyboard on the computer, if the same thing happens then its a setting in the computer that is causing it to happen. If the problem goes away with another keyboard then that means the original keyboard is bad.

On 32-bit machines: Use the windows search feature to find "hidserv.dll." Once located, copy the file and paste it into the %systemroot%\system32\ directory. Open the "Run" dialog box by keying the windows + R. Type "services.msc" and hit enter. Locate the HID Input Service. Right click and click "start." This should solve the issue!!

Arrow keys do not function

When that happens it is usually because the arrow keypad connector is broken.

Try first doing a system restore , to a date before the problem started.

Also reinstall the wireless keyboard software , to ensure it is not a software problem.

If all that does not work, then the keyboard is probably broken, test it on a different computer, and eventually replace it.

It could be that you have something in the keyboard, or more likely that the keyboard is broken. If it's a wireless keyboard, you could try changing the batteries.

Microsoft Wireless Keyboard Slow and Intermittent

It can be a couple of things. 1. Try replacing the keyboard & mouse's batteries with fresh batteries. 2. Try moving the wireless receiver closer to the keyboard. 3. Make sure the receiver is not located too close to other electronics like a tv or dvd player. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer.

The Print key is not working

it depends what system you are running cetain programs and windows operating systems dont accept this shortcut

try going into controll panel clik keyboard and make sure hot keys are on

the only other reason is if you have eny other wireless functions running these can disrupt the signal from the keyboard to the computer turn off all wireless items and try agen

if none of these work try replacing the keyboard as it should work as long as hotkeys are on and the operating system you have accepts this function
