Hello - I figured it out. I had the exact same problem. The shutter failed and it had to be fixed by Canon. Apparently that happens after the shutter fires so many times (like a click-count on a printer). I just got my camera back and it's doing awesome now.
Hi there,
The autofocus mechanism on some lenses can be damaged if you manually focus while the camera is attempting to autofocus. Basically, you would be working against the motor and gears.
There is no need to download software before using the camera, however, I would suggest going to Canon's website and downloading the firmware upgrades for it. Here's the link:
Canon 20D Firmware Download
Hope this helps!
Make sure the camera is OFF when placing the battery in it, and have the mode dial (Top left side) set to the green rectangle for automatic mode. Then turn ON.
take out battery for a few mins and that resets the
error, well it worked. or Before I reset it, take off the lens and
put it back on. i heard that some have problems with the lexar cards. http://www.lexar.com/support/cust_advisory.html in short, format the card every so offten in the camera and see if that fixes it. also try a firmware upgrade if your 20D has highest version get this at canon website
I too have a Canon 20D and receive the same message. Zoombrowser works fine with my Canon G3, so the way I get around this problem is by using the other software that came with the 20D called EOS Viewer. This software will download your images every time. You might try sending a note to Canon's support team on the Canon website. They are very quick to respond to all questions and they can probably respond to this question too.
Good luck!
