Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+

1 Answer

I recently bought a house which has a craftsman 1/2 HP garage door opener. The garage door opener works fine using the wall mounted pad and also the numeric key pad, but not with the remote that came with it. I tried programming it using the learn botton, no luck. I reset everything and tried programming it again, no go. I replaced the battery and redid everything again, no go. I bought a universal remote from Canadian Tire and tried everything possible but no luck. The garage door opener was built 07/2007. The model number is 139.18453D. I thank you in advance for helping me fixing this probelm.\r\nGary

The above model number is what I got off the motor unit and it says Craftsman on either side of the unit. The part number is 41AC150-1. I did try pressing the remote botton and press and release the purple learn button immediately and no go. I also purchased a universal remote and tried everything, but nothing worked. Any other suggestion? Thank you.

I called Sears Canada and after giving them the model # of the remote and the motor unit, they told me that they are not compatable. As you said the opener itself has 315 MHz receiever and my remote wasn't compatable. I am going to pick up a universal remote and hopefully it works. I'll keep you posted. Thanks.

If you didn't, try programming the remote this way.

Press and hold the button on the remote and then press and immediately release the smart/learn button on the motor unit. If this doesn't work you need to make sure you have the correct remote for the model opener you have. Your model number doesn't bring any results from Sears

I think your model and part numbers are Canadian and that is why I can't look them up. The fact your keypad is working eliminates the possibility of a bad receiver. I am at this point thinking your original remote is bad and that the universal remote you bought is not compatible. You need to see if you can confirm the radio frequencies of the receiver and the universal remote. I think they should be 315 megahertz.

I contacted Sears Canada and they said that the remote is not compatable with the opener !!!. I am going to buy another universal remote and try it again. I will post the results. Thank you for all the help. Thanks.
P.S. They told me the receiver is a 315 MHz.

So I went and bought another universal remote and tried it last night and it worked great. The problem was the remote. I thank you all for helping me.

I have a 1/2 hp craftsman opener. Remotes work fine. Wired wall unit has a blinking light on the open button and will not work Lock pad and light pad work but not the operate pad.????

Try pressing and holding the lock button for 3 seconds to stop the light from blinking. Your wall control may be bad. Usually when that light is blinking it is the remotes that will not work.

You may have a bad wall control. Try disconnecting it from the opener and try. Otherwise it is time for a new model.

Craftsman 1/2 garage door wont open with remote

If your wall control is the 3 button type make sure the lock function has not been turned on. You can tell if it has because the light in the wall control will be flashing. If this is so then you need to hold in for 3 seconds the button with the lock icon. If this is not the case then you most likely have a bad logic board which contains the receiver.

I have a craftsman garage door opener (1/2 hp) won't close proper

Check your door sensors. They have probably been bumped. Tweak them until they are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not blinking.
