Question about Denon AVR588 Receiver
I've been trying to connect my DVD player to my new Denon receiver (AVR-687) through a digital cable for a couple of weeks now. The audio works fine through RCA cables but when I try to use a digital cable - nothing. Until today I only had two front speakers but today I got a center channel speaker and next week I'm picking up a sub. Again today I tried the optical cable and no sound. I have the input setting on Auto - do I need all 5 speakers and the sub attached for the receiver to recognize a digital signal? I've trying assigning both optical 1 and 2 as well as the coaxial cable inputs but again nothing. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Normally the optical inputs are disabled unless specifically turned on. I dono't know your specific model. I'll research the model and update this with more specifics.
