PDN20.dll is part of the palm desktop, it looks like your palm desktop is corrupted, I'd recommend that you uninstall palm desktop and related programs entirely from the computer and then restart it.

run palmdesktop setup from the disc or find the correct one for your device from here

If you still get the port is in use, make sure you turn off any related palm programs that might be running on the computer, made by palm or not, something might be trying to use the palm and preventing the sync, but the dll error definitely points to a corrupt installation and re-install should fix that.

What else to try? If you have another machine in the house install palm desktop there and see if it syncs there normally, if it does, then that confirms that something is going on on the other machine.

which palm is it? you might have the wrong port selected on the desktop program.

  • Ekse Nov 12, 2010

Thats up to you - did you get the DLL error message to disappear at least?

open up device manager, Right click on the computer or "my computer" from either your desktop or start menu, select manage.

On the left side click on device manager.

Now on the right, find the palm devices and related, right click and uninstall all of them, (if you get a checkbox about uninstall driver software? Click No, or leave it unchecked)

then unplug the cardle and or the palm, then restart the computer.

Once its started plug in and see if its working now.

  • Ekse Nov 12, 2010

Did you do the device manager part of my solution?

Also make sure you are actually uninstalling EVERYTHING related to the palm, the dll errors are coming up because you have not done so. or then this is another program thats giving you the error message.

and repeat what I told you about device manager once more, you could even check the box that says delete driver software, and see if it helps.

You must still have some program on the pc thats trying to use the palm.

  • Ekse Nov 12, 2010

to confirm that the palm, and the hotsync actually work, you could try it on another machine that has not had palm desktop or related installed previously.

Hey, no you haven't ran out of time. Theres no time limit.

Do you have anything important on the handheld? I'd suggest you do a factory reset on it or a hard reset, that wipes it clean, back up anything important first of course.

See if that solves the problem.

    Data Erasure instructions:::

1 Open your Palm Tungsten T3 by sliding the bottom section away from the screen.

2 Locate the reset button on the back of the hand-held. It will be a small circular hole near the center of the hand-held, revealed when you slide the bottom section away from the screen.

3 Press the power button on the top panel of the Tungsten hand-held. Keep the power button held down.

4 While holding down the power button, gently press and release the reset button using the tip of your stylus or an unfolded paper clip.

5 Release the power button when the Palm Powered logo appears.

6 A message will appear on the screen informing you that you will erase all of the data on your Tungsten hand-held. Press Up on the Navigator. This performs a hard reset, erasing all data.

Sorry I had not received any comments since 10 days ago.

Please read and follow the steps on this page

If the problem remains its starting to sound like your replacement palm is faulty if it comes up, port is being used on more than one computer and the above instructions have not helped and you have performed a hard reset on the palm with the instructions posted earlier test it with another computer again.

I'm not aware that your palm has any phone functions, I don't understand why it is asking anything about phone number or saying something that direction.

As for the tune up utility? sorry I don't know I don't recall having recommended one to you for this problem.

Welcome to Fixya

Sounds like the problem is the LCd screen already. Have you tried doing a hard reset to your palm? The data in your palm can only be transferred using Hotsync. Try uninstall/install the software again to the new computer. May i know the Windows OS of the new computer and what is the model of your Palm.

Thank you for using FIxya!

I updated the Palm m130 to Z22. I lost all my addresses on the m130 whe installing the Z22. Is there anyway to retrieve the lost file?!

The solution to this problem is.. if the m130 still has all the data, then

you need to perform a custom hotsync to overwrite all files on the computer

  1. Click on the ‘Hotsync Manager’ icon and choose ‘Custom’.
  2. Highlight the ‘Datebook’ conduit and click ‘Change’.
  3. Select ‘Handheld overwrites desktop’ and click ‘OK’.
  4. Repeat these steps for the ‘Address’, ‘Todo’, ‘Memo’ and ‘System’ conduits.
  5. ‘Install’ and ‘Install Service Templates’ should be ‘Enabled’.
  6. Perform a ‘Hotsync’ operation by pressing the button on the Hotsync® Cradle, or Cable.

Now that the files are on your computer you need to sync them into the new palm

Same steps but this time Desktop Overwrites handheld

  1. Click on the ‘Hotsync Manager’ icon and choose ‘Custom’.
  2. Highlight the ‘Datebook’ conduit and click ‘Change’.
  3. Select ‘Desktop overwrites Handheld’ and click ‘OK’.

Can not find an available Com port for Hotsync

Right click on the Hotsync icon in the taskbar (usually at the bottom-right hand corner of the screen) and select "USB" sync, while unchecking "Serial" or "Com" options. Then, initiate the hotsync from your palm handheld, rather than computer. Hopefully this will help!

Error message using IrComm port

Hi, Right click on hotsync manager at the bottom right corner of the pc , make sure only local serial and ir is having a check mark , if anything else has check mark , just go to that and do a left click , it will get unchecked . On the handheld tap on home , on the main page u will see hotsync icon , tap on that , on the hotsync page make sure via ir , and not cradle or cable , then at the top u will see hotsync in words , tap on that , in the drop down u will see lan sync pref, tap on that and make sure lan sync is highlighted , and not local hot sync , since local hotsync is usefull only when u perform cradle or cable hot sync using usb , then click on ok , try a hotsync . If this doesnt help and again u get the same error , do a soft reset on the handheld and on the pc , go into hotsync manager , click on setup , choose local , change the com port to a different port and reduce the speed to 9600 , click on ok restart the pc and again perform a hotsync . The error u got was coz of this , on ur pc a ir port is not been assigned .. Try this it should work .. Regards
