Hi Harry, Try re-installing the printer again.Disconnect the printer completely from your PC.Uninstall the printers software from your PC and then reboot it. Insert the installation disk and run setup to install a fresh the printers driver. If you don't have the installing discs, download the drivers from this canon support site.Select the driver that corresponds with your Operating System[Windows XP,Vista etc].
You can find the drivers for this printer here: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mx_series/pixma_mx310#DriversAndSoftware
Once you open the link, you will need to select your Operating System (Windows XP, Windows VIsta, Windows 7) and it will show all the available downloads for your printer.
Just download the drivers and the software you are using for your printer. If you need a disc, I would suggest contacting Canon and ask them if you can have the software and driver disc for your printer, which will cost.
www.canon.com/support/dowloads remove the old driveers from add/remove software in the control panel, run the installation program and u should be good
just go to this link and clilck where it says "free download" at the top, this will install the driver on your computer, you don't need the disc. Hope that's what you were looking for.
