Whenever i put a dvd/cd in my hp probook 4510s and try to open it, it insteads ejects

Remove the Power Cord, Remove the Battery, then close the lid and turn the laptop over and remove the one screw that holds the dvd drive in place on the bottom of the laptop. Remove the Dvd Drive and in about 20 seconds put it back in and Try rebooting to see if it solves the problem.

Your dvd drive might be defective and needs to be replaced. You can find one on ebay. Just put HP Probook 4510s DvD drive in the search.

Once you take the dvd drive out you can also search on the model of the dvd drive. The model will be listed on the dvd drive.

Dvd player on my hp computer will not open to insert dvd or cd's

If it doesn't eject right when you press the eject button right after you power it on, then its not being locked by software and there is either a defect with the button mechanism, the ejecting motor, or the power system.
If you don't need to use it often, you can try manually ejecting it with a paperclip. If it reads the cd / dvd discs, then it is just an issue with the button or motor. If it won't read discs then you'll probably need to replace the unit. If your HP is a desktop, you can use any type of drive (BluRay, CD DVD DL, R, RW etc), as long as you verify it has the same data / power connectors (PATA / SATA). If your not sure the difference, here is an image of two hard drives that have the different connections: http://www.advantage77.com/images/Pictures/Hard_Drives/sata.jpg
If you have a laptop, you can try contacting Hewlett-Packard with your model, product number, and serial number (on bottom of the laptop) and they may be able to send you an appropriate replacement.
Another alternative would be a using a portable USB disc drive.
Please leave feedback if this was helpful. Thanks.

I have a HP Pavillion Entertainment PC that will not start up. Two new motherboards have been placed in it and it will still not boot up. It starts up and then just shuts down.

ok, this is a muti step process. 1. Remove the hard drive and push the power button. When the HP screen appears enter the Bios. This is usually done by pressing ESC, Del or F1 when the computer displays the HP screen. If you get into the Bios open and insert a bootable CD/DVD close the drive door and let teh computer continue to boot. If you don't have a disk handy you can get Knoppix, a Linux OS designed to run from DVD/CD, at most used book stores for about $5. If the computer starts your problem is the hard drive. 2. Assuming the computer did not boot. With the hard drive out, remove the RAM and repeat the steps above. 3. If the computer still fails to boot remove the CD/DVD drive and repeat. At this point you can reinstall the hard drive and RAM. Your goal here is to remove items until you locate the one that is causing the problem. Since you have already replaced the motherboard a second time you are pretty sure your main board is good so it must be a different device. The most likely fault is the Hard Drive followed by RAM, CD/DVD drive, MODEM, WiFi and so forth. Once the computer boots with a specific device removed you know that device is at fault and replace it to resolve the issue.

I need to know how to remove a DVD drive for a HP lap top.

If your HP Pavilion DV6000 series laptop computer has a bad DVD drive, use the following steps to replace the drive

Purchase a new DVD drive to replace the old HP drive. You can use any slim DVD drive with a 50-pin ATAPI IDE Interface Connector. You will probably want a DVD burner since the original drive was capable of burning DVDs. The drive I used to replace the HP drive is a LG Black IDE Super-multi Slim Notebook DVD Rewriter - OEM version.

Unplug the power cord from your HP laptop. Remove the laptop battery from the back of the computer. This will eliminate the chance of power damage to your computer

Ground yourself by touching a metal object or touch your screwdriver on the ground while touching part of the metal. Unscrew the DVD drive screw circled in the Step 2 photo. Using a small Phillips head screwdriver turn the screw counter-clockwise until it is completely loosened. You may need to flip the computer over to get the screw to fall out. Put the screw in a safe location for later.

Put a small pointed tip object (a paper clip will also work) into the drive release hole on the face of the DVD drive. Use the hole to pull the drive out from the laptop body.

Remove the mounting bracket from the old DVD drive. There are two small Phillips head screws that need to be removed by turning them counterclockwise. Match the bracket up with the holes on the side opposite of the connection port. Using the two screws you just removed, secure the mounting bracket to the new DVD drive by tightening them in the clockwise direction.
Remove the original HP DVD drive face plate from the old drive. It can be removed by working it back and forth to loosen the faceplate. Once it is loose you should be able to pull the faceplate off.

Do the same for the new drive. Once the DVD faceplate is off, match the tabs of the original HP faceplate up and press in until it clicks into place

The new drive is now ready to install into the HP DV6000 series laptop. There is no need to hook up IDE cables and power cables. The new drive can simply be slid into the HP laptop.

Find the screw from Step 3. Make sure the DVD drive is pressed in all the way. Install the small Phillips head screw in the back of the laptop and tighten by turning clockwise.

Laptop DVD

Try cleaning the DVD drive with compressed air, if it still does not work try cleaning the drive with a DVD disk cleaner. if it still does not work and the software for the DVD drive has been confirmed as operational then the drive is dead and needs replacement.

HP CD/DVD optical drive is not recognized

I found that there was a firmware conflict caused by the installation of iTUNES. I uninstalled and cleared the upper and lower filters in the registry and the internal DVD-Rom is recognized. First I cleared the registry and the drive was recognized after a hard boot. So Far no twitches. Knock on wood.

Problem in cd-dvd drive of hp laptop

This is not a driver problem. It is almost certainly a problem with yourdvd/cd player. If it is reading dvd's, then it means that the driver is installed. You will have to take your laptop in and possibly get the cd/dvd player replaced.
