Question about Computers & Internet
Starting with your original problem. There was no need to buy a new battery as charging of the battery is done by the battery charger. It is very likely that the battery charger was bad. You have not mentioned any thing about the charger.
Thge motherboards are co compact that you can not afford to remove any portion, however small, the motherboard and expect it to work fine. If you power it on it may damage your LCD, HDD and what not. I would not recommend use of this motherboard unless checked fully. To do that please disconnect the HDD, LCD etc and power it on. If there are no sparks then start reconnecting these items one by one till it is fully assembled.
To connect the new jack, you must see how the old one was connected.
