I went to start my dryer one day and it just did not start. I loaded the clothes, cleaned the lint catcher, shut the door, set the time and hit the start button. When I press the start button all you can hear is a small buzzing sound like the dryer wants to start but wont spark. Does anyone know what I could do?
Re: problem with top dryer on stackable frigidaire
The switch may be bad or just not engaging when the door is closed. To test it you could tape something to the inside of the door right where the door meets the switch and see if it comes on. I did that and it worked. I use it as a temp. fix.

Unplug it overnight. That will definitely reset it. Did you remove the cover where e the lint filter goes in. It is usually held in by two screws from the inside. There should be two wires leading to two metal strip on that cover. Make sure they are clean. You can also reach down into the lint trap to remove any more lint.

I had this same problem 3 weeks ago, and here is what I found. The dryer was so clogged with lint it could not dry the clothes. I had to take the whole machine apart and clean all the lint out. I found the felt around the drum was worn out, and that was allowing the lint to go everywhere it shouldn't. With the felt replaced and the lint gone, it worked well. Be blessed.
Excessive lint on or near the heater coils will send smoldering lint onto the clothes. Use a flash light and go inside the drum to see the heating coils or lifting the top up who should be able to see the lint build-up on the coils. These need to be cleaned.
These machines have a metal ball (like a small trailer hitch ball) mounted on the rear of the drum that rides in a plastic saddle mounted on the rear of the machine,
The parts that you need to replace would be the plastic glides mounted in the front of the drum that run on teflon pads glued to the rim around the door. When they get bad you start to notice dammaged clothing.
The drum is allowed to sag down enough that clothing can get into the gap at the bottom and as the drum turns upward the items get pinched when the gap closes at the top.
All these parts can be replaced but be prepared if you do it yourself, this is a tough machine to work on.
