To log in a public WIFI you don,t need to log in,since is a public domain. The only thing you need is to secure your connection with :

Here are four quick tips to enjoy the convenience of public Wi-Fi and help to protect your privacy.
1. Use a firewall If your computer uses Windows Vista or Windows XP and you've installed Service Pack 2, you have a built-in firewall that's turned on by default.
You can configure Windows Firewall to provide better protection when you're using a public wireless network.
For more information, see Windows Firewall.
2. Hide your files When you use public Wi-Fi, network encryption is often out of your control.
Check the privacy statement on the network's Web site to learn about the type of encryption they use. (If they don't have a privacy statement, you'd be better off not using the network.)
If you keep personal or financial information on your computer, consider investing in an operating system, such as Windows Vista, that includes the tools to protect your information through encryption.
To learn more, see Encrypt or decrypt a folder or file.
3. Don't type in credit card numbers or passwords These measures provide some protection against casual hackers and identity thieves who prey on wireless networks. But if criminals are determined enough, they will eventually find a way to get around any security system.
If you want to be safe, avoid typing any sensitive information, such as your credit card number or any other financial information, while you use a public wireless network.
I can get to the login page but I need to set my - icotip.gif Tip: If you must enter credit card numbers while using a public wireless network, make sure there is a locked padlock icon at the bottom right corner of the browser window, and make sure the Web address begins with https: (the "s" stands for secure).
4. Turn off your wireless network when you're not using it If you're not surfing the Internet or sending e-mail, but still using your computer in an area where there is a public wireless network, disable your wireless connection.
If you're using an external Wi-Fi card you can remove it.
If you're using an internal WiFi card, right-click the connection and click Disable.

How can I reset the password on the netgear wn1000rp unit?

After login using default username and password..you can set your own password .
After login ,linksys setup page will come...

->From this page click on the wireless security tab at the top, and choose from WEP, WPA and WPA2 on a drop down list of security options. It doesn't really matter which you choose, though it is possible to deduce the most secure in your area by viewing available wireless networks on your pc and seeing which type of security the network lowest on the list is using. That will be the most secure.

->Once you have selected a security setting, you will be provided with information regarding the security details. You will need to make a note of the security key and keep it somewhere safe. When connecting to the internet for the first time after resetting your router, you will be required to enter the security key, and then you're away. In the future your pc will connect automatically.

Please connect the Netgear Router to your Laptop with a Ethernet cable.
In order to connect Netgear Router to your Laptop please follow these steps:
STEP 1 : If you look at back of router there are 4 LAN ports that are together and 1 WAN or Internet port which is alone. Connect the Internet cable ( provided by your Internet Service Provider) to WAN or Internet port of router .
Now take another Ethernet cable and connect one end of the cable to any one of 4 LAN ports and connect the second end to your laptop. Now please turn on the router.
STEP 2: You can see Power, Internet, Wireless and one LAN port light there on the router. Now come to computer and try to open the router login page.
In order to open the router page , you need to open your Internet Explorer and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar.Now it will ask for router login information .
Username = admin Password = password
If it doesn't work please try to check the IP address of your computer ( In order to check the IP address of computer, Click on START menu , goto RUN and in RUN Window please type cmd. A black window pops up under this please type IPCONFIG and check the ETHERNET adapter IP address.
Now try to open the router page using this IP address.

I have a net gear router. I left my wep key in Canada - I am now in Florida. My husband needs to connect to my network but I don't have the wep key for him to enter in his computer to allow him to connect...

Access the set-up page of your router. Here's how to do it.

1. Open any web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. In the address bar, enter "192.168.0.1" (without the quotes) and press the enter key. This will bring up the login prompt for most Netgear wireless routers. If that doesn't work, try "www.routerlogin.net", "192.168.0.5", or "10.1.10.1" until the login window appears.

2. Enter the username "admin" (again, without the quotes), and the password "password" in the appropriate fields, then click OK to login. If that password fails, try "1234," "Password" (with a capital "P"), or "admin" until you are greeted with the settings screen

3. Make any required changes to the settings. Under security, it is possible to specify a new username and password for added security. Once you are done, close the window, and the system will automatically log you out.

Can not get my wii console to connect to my wireless router. It is a belkin and it keeps asking for a password.

To login to router setup page you need to connect the router with a ethernet cable to one of your computer or laptop then open a page of internet explorer and type in browser address bar http://192.168.2.1 and it will ask for username and password the username is by default "admin" and password is blank do not type anything in password and press ok you will go to the page of the router

    1. Then go to wireless settings and you can check what is the wireless security password, you can use the same to connect your wireless computer to your router to access internet wirelessly
    2. If you are not able to login to router setup page then you might need to reset the router from the reset button
Please let me know if this will help

    Password settings

if you are talking about wireless security, you will find the settings under Wireless Security in the routers setup page.  The default will be HTTP://192.168.1.1  no username, default password of "admin"  If you are talking about the router's password itself, you will find that under Administration in the same setup page.
