SOURCE: Can create shortcut on Vaio Gate

hey just bought a sony and had the same prob, after looking its not to hard, just a quick edit to an .xml.

open the folder %AppData%\Sony Corporation\VAIO Gate and locate the file called VAIO Gate.xml.

Make a copy of this file so if you go wrong you can always restore the ori and start again.

Right click on it and click edit which should open the file in notepad.

Now copy the code i will paste after this, on a new line below into the doc after you find the first </Item>

n.b follow this word for word otherwise it wont work.
everything in between the *need to be replaced with what it tells you. when you have replaced the hints removed the star. When you finish there should be no stars in your code.

This is the code to pase in after the first </Item>

<Item Type="2" DisplayId="app.*first 4 letters of app*">
<DisplayString>*display name you will see in the gate app*</DisplayString>
<DisplayTip></DisplayTip>
<AppPath>*path to the .exe, e.g C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS4\flash.exe no need for any quote marks*</AppPath>
<SupportTouch>0</SupportTouch>
<SupportRemocon>0</SupportRemocon>
<WorkDirectry></WorkDirectry>
<Option></Option>
</Item>

thats it save the file, close the gate and reopen it and if you will see the new icons. You can then drag to arrange where you want them in the line.
