Preparaton: Plug in your camera and save MTS video on the hard drive.

Step 1 ) Add source files:
Download and run AVCHD Converter for Mac. Then open main interface and click Add Files for adding MTS files.
If you want to work with several source files at once, you need to add the first source file, then do this same sequence for sencond source, third source and so on.

Step 2) Output Settings
As you can see the main window shows up. Click Profile and you have to select your prefer output video format.
There are detailed explanations below for various features in main window.

Clip: Shrink an AVCHD video size or cut video into small clips
Edit: Crop play area, adjust video frame effects, preview the video files, etc for editing AVCHD videos
Merge: Join a couple of camera clips or merge different files into one.
Settings: Next to the pull-down menu of Profile and adjust the Resolution, Frame rate, Encoder and Bitrate of AVCHD files.
Destination: Save your converted files and next Open button to find the converted AVCHD movie files.

According to the symptom and self diagnostic system the problem is in mechanical section (tape loading section) Therefore camera just need mechanical adjustment and will work fine again. This problem aries when the insertion of the cassette is improper or forced insertion.

I have a JVC video camera. It came with a usb cord. When I plug it in the pc recogises it but there is only one folder that opens up and it is empty. I have my tape inside the camera. I want to transfer it...

Hi Braxton_46,

In most video editing programs such as Windows Movie Make, there should be an option for "import video" this should then find your camera and extract the video. As it is a tape based unit it will actually need to run the tape to extract the information.

The folder you are seeing maybe for a still picture feature your unit may have

S-Video cables carry only video. You still need to connect the red/white RCA plugs for audio.
