Kenmore Elite Gas dryer Model 11077052600. Dryer takes a very long time to dry the clothes. A full load could take 3 hours to dry. Washing machine is spinning out the water properly. this seems like an improper drying time. Are there ant tests to determine if the dryer is performing properly?

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

Kenmore 500 dryer used to dry a full load of cloths in 1 regular cycle of about 40 to 50 minutes. Now the same cloths are taking nearly 2 hours to dry.

I think I would check and see if the dryer vent tube is clogged or nearly clogged. It sounds to me like it is. Try this first, if its not, I will continue to try and solve this with you.

My kenmore elite dryer is only 1 year old and does not seem to get hot and takes long time to dry clothes

It normally takes about 45 minutes for a dryer to dry a full load. If your dryer is taking more than an hour, check these.
Frequently there's an obstruction in the vent duct from the dryer to the outside of the house. For the dryer to heat properly, the duct must be clean and clear of lint or any other substance.
Your dryer has some internal ductwork. If it gets clogged, your dryer can't dry properly. In most dryers, to get to the internal ductwork to clear the clog, you have to substantially disassemble the dryer. A quick way to check for internal clogs is to remove the lint filter and use a flashlight to inspect the inside of the duct. If it looks clogged and you can't clear it using your vacuum, contact a qualified appliance repair technician.
our dryer's heating element may be partially burned out. If it is, your dryer still heats, but at such a low temperature that it takes three or four times as long to dry the clothes. If the element is partially burned out, replace it.
